I have no problem saying you're a stupid jerk on the open forum, but you needed redding and there is space for a comment so why not.
'no one forces them to join', what an ignorant and mean spirited comment.
But you're right, no one forces them to join, yet they do anyway and put their lives on the line for the good of the communities they serve. The least the government could do is make sure they're well equipped to do the job wouldn't you agree.

Whilst I agree they should be adequately equipped I don't see why it is a government problem... but hey they can lobby their state premier for funds I guess and he/she can go cap in hand to ScoMo.

Are you one of these wankstains that think the state governments have an unlimted bucket of coin to dip into every time someone needs a new pair of boots ?

Last year was Australia’s hottest, driest year ever, according to the annual climate statement of the national Bureau of Meteorology. The conditions have intensified the current wildfires, which are the worst on record.
On record? How many years is that record?

    And measured how?

You're a silly felcher Willy but that's a fair question.

Poms only invaded the shithouse 5 minutes ago in relative time so Boganland been burning for thousands of years.

Never been a problem until whitey came along and decided to build their gaff in the fookin bush and now because of that they are getting burnt out.

Since the get go Arsetralia been getting burnt out and then regeneration occurred.

Normal play for a stinking hot kuntry like Arstralia.

Three dead after Large Air Tanker crashes while fighting bushfires in southern NSW

Three dead after Large Air Tanker crashes while fighting bushfires in southern NSW - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Three American firefighters died when a Large Air Tanker crashed while fighting a bushfire in southern NSW.

"Tragically, there appears to be no survivors as a result of the crash down in the Snowy Monaro area," NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said.

"[The aircraft] impacted heavily with the ground and initial reports are that there was a large fireball associated with the impact of the plane as it hit the ground."

Commissioner Fitzsimmons said there was no indication on what caused the accident, but is working with the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) to determine what happened.

The Commissioner said all three occupants on the plane were American firefighters.

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules was contracted through American aerial firefighting company, Coulson Aviation (USA).

The company has grounded their Large Air Tankers fleet as a precaution and as "a mark of respect".

The grounding of the water bombers by Coulson Aviation will have an immediate impact on aerial firefighting capacity, Mr Fitzsimmons said, but he understands their decision.

"It's absolutely warranted and I support them 100 per cent," he said.

"They are very mindful of the emotional and psychological effect that such a tragedy will have on the rest of their workforce not just here in Australia but in North America or Canada.

"Our hearts are with all those that are suffering in what is the loss of three remarkable, well respected, crew that have invested so many decades of their life into firefighting."
The RFS said the aircraft was engaged in "routine" waterbombing activities at the time of the crash.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian expressed her gratitude to the victims for putting the lives and properties of others before their own safety.

"Today demonstrates the fire season is far from over," she said.

"Today is a reminder of how every single person who is defending life and property is at risk."

So apparently the Red Cross has raised $115m in donations for bush fire relief but $11m of that will go to "administrative costs".

    That's fucked.

Australian bushfires will cause jump in CO2 in atmosphere, say scientists

Fires released vast amounts of carbon dioxide and reduced vegetation, pushing planet closer to point of no return

The devastating bushfires in Australia are likely to cause a jump in carbon concentrations in the atmosphere this year, a forecast suggests, bringing the world closer to 1.5C of global heating.

The fires have not only released vast amounts of carbon dioxide and soot, but the unusual extent of the blazes means regrowth is likely to be slower than in previous years. That will reduce the amount of vegetation available to act as a carbon sink, meaning less carbon dioxide is removed from the air.

Experts at the UK’s Met Office have predicted that this year will see another large rise in the carbon content of the atmosphere, which has been measured at the Mauna Loa observatory in Hawaii since 1958. They predict that carbon dioxide will peak at more than 417 parts per million in May, usually the highest point of the year for carbon concentrations, and settle to about 414ppm as the average for 2020.

The predicted year-on-year rise of about 2.74ppm would be one of the biggest on record. Emissions from the Australian bushfires will make up one-fifth of the increase, according to the Met Office. Last year, scientists recorded the second biggest yearly increase on record, of 3.5ppm compared with 2018.

Emotional video of a mother's recounting the traumatic events of what happened on "the worst day of our lives".

Firefighter sends goodbye text to his family, thinking he would die

Cheryl Outred received a text from her son, a firefighter who had been sent to the NSW South Coast to battle devastating blazes, while she was sitting in her lounge making plans for New Year's Eve.

The text read: "I love you. We've been overrun by fire. Truck on fire."

Mate, 10% is fairly good. It's the ones who pay for TV advertising who make me bristle.

I gave the Red Cross a couple of hundred bucks for this Bushfire Appeal, understanding that some of that gets sucked up in admin costs.
