Mandaloopy ... eat your heart out.

Canberra has recorded unprecedented smoke pollution (despite the closet fire being more then 50 klm away).

Canberrans woke up to a new year with air quality more than 22 times the hazardous rating.

The 2:00pm air quality index reading in the ACT's southern station at Monash was 4,650more than 23 times the hazardous level of 200.
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

HW, I don't know Clarkson is getting up to, but many of the celebs are reaching into their deep pockets.

    The entertainer Pink
I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires.
I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have donated half a million dollars to the NSW Rural Fire Service.

One piece of advice I can give you fukos is to back up all your photos on a portable Hard drive and keep it accessible. When the shit hits the fan you grab that along with ya kids and dog and get the fuk out.

When you lose every thing in your life but still have your life, family and photos you kick off again.

Lose all your Photos and that's a killer to many people, all your history is fooked.

That's my take home point after seeing it happen to multiple people over 34 years.

Yer, but it's always good to double up on these things.

Another very important thing that will bring your life back on line is to make sure you are well Insured.

Lost count of the times I had to deal with people who lost everything and had zero Insurance.

    Fookin madness. ???????

Australian bush fires are a natural phenomenon that have occurred for millennia. The problem that has developed is that population growth has led to exponentially increased habitation in the areas that traditionally lie in the path of these conflagrations. In much the same way the stupid English build houses on flood plains and then implausibly blame climate change for the fucking inevitable flooding, the Ockers blame global warming because their houses are burning down because they cannot process the fucking obvious fact thy live in a country renown for droughts and zero rainfall for up to seven years.

The climate is, was, and always shall be a dynamic force on the planet but if people are too stupid to comprehend the risks of settlement in danger zones then that's their own lookout.

Jesus, the fucking Ganges delta regularly floods and every flood brings hundreds of deaths from the Bangladeshies who live on its banks and there it is. You can either blame climate change or man's stupidity.

    Who cares, eh?

And Sausage arse is spot on the money with this one.

Wankers build their gaff in the middle of the Bush and then get burnt out. Happens every fukin year since the get go.

Further more when told to reduce the fire load around their house and property the morons and Greenies amongst them won't do it. ????

Yep, Australia been burning from the get go the difference now is much more of the Bogan population living in the bush.

Nope, bought them fuck all but in my mind I thought this.

" You complete and utter wanker. "

Basic House Insurance is cheap in comparison to the cost of rebuilding a burnt out house. Add in the cost of leveling the block and removing the left overs of a fully consumed House you're in for some huge financial pain.

Na, I don't do sympathy when dealing with fukin idiots, I deal in reality.

Always has worked for me eh.

    Well it's not really.

If you could transplant yourself over to Boganland you would be staggered where punters are building houses. So many houses built in high risk prime bush fire zones away from adequate water supplies and any hope of a full fire fighting team attending in the event it all goes tits up.

On top of that many have zero Insurance so in the event of bad shit happening they are destined to live the rest of their natural life down the rubbish tip.

Lovely destinations in spring, winter and autuum but come our horrible summer season and ya wonder why the fuk they bother.

Anyway, we all make a decision on what sort of risk we can handle.

Not for me but i have friends doing exactly that. Their call innit.

Early Australians were largely English and needed to be saved by aboriginals whose land they had taken :

The township of Gundagai was established close to the Murrumbidgee River in New South Wales. It was built on Wiradjuri Country. Murrumbidgee River was known to flood in that spot, but despite being warned by local Wiradjuri, the new arrivals built their town on low-lying ground.

By 1852, 250 settler-colonisers lived in the township.

In the years before, minor floods had caused damage to the township. During the great flood of 1852, seventy-one buildings were destroyed. Only three houses were left standing after the flood waters receded. And there was a significant loss of life – both human and livestock.
The 1852 flood caused the most recorded Australian deaths by drowning in written history, with an estimated 89 settler-colonisers perishing.

It is impossible to know just how many died as, being on a drovers’ route, the region experienced a high number of visitors. And the number of Aboriginal people that drowned, if any, does not appear to have been recorded.
The death count would have been much higher if help had not arrived. Because, despite conflict and violence of colonisation, including the nearby Coolac Massacre in the 1830s, local Aboriginal people came to the rescue of settler-colonisers.
The two most-known heroes during the 1852 flood are Yarri and Jacky Jacky. They were assisted by other Aboriginal people, including Long Jimmy and Tommy Davis. Using traditional bark canoes, and a recently-repaired wooden canoe, they were able to locate people stranded on rooftops and in trees.
