As to the topic of this thread, it seems Trump skipped talks about the Amazon fires and climate change.

like that macron was trying to set up a trump meeting with the iran leader.

might happen in the future (like with nk).

obama or dubya would never do it.
Indeed. Notwithstanding his narcissism, which of the POTUSes of the last 50 years (or after Eisenhower) had guts to criticize recent US politics re Russiagate and the Ukraine mess that had helped Putin to get back Crimea before a US base would be set up there? And that cheek-to-cheek with his friend Bolton sitting in the first row of the showplace...

Of course he threw it all on Obama, that's what the POTUSes are for. Who is so naive enough to think that all it was from Obama head, not from his "friends" who had invested the big money in him? Beside the invested money in Ukraine that hardly can be recovered...

Russia not pursing return to G8, says foreign minister

Sergey Lavrov says return to G8 not in country’s foreign policy pursuits

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday that Russia had never approached anyone to seek a return to the G8.

"Moscow became aware of the talks regarding Russia's return to the group through media. In all these years we have never touched the topic in our contacts with anyone," Lavrov said at a news conference in Moscow.

Russia was suspended from the G8 in 2014 due to its annexation of Crimea as well as its political and military support for separatists in eastern Ukraine.

At the G7 summit in France, the U.S. President Donald Trump created a flutter, by demanding to readmit Russia into the group.

Trump on Sunday said on the sidelines of the summit that Washington will "certainly possible" invite Russian President Vladimir Putin as a guest of next year's G7 summit, which will be held in the U.S.

Lavrov said that the readmission was never part of Russia’s foreign policy endeavor.

"In all these years we have never touched the topic of the G8 in our contacts with anyone, and, frankly speaking, we did not even have it in mind when we were building our foreign policy," he said.

Separately, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia could not return to the G8 at the invitation of just one country. But he said that Moscow does not consider Trump's suggestion to restore the format to the G8 a "provocation".

Trudeau must have slipped in centre stage just as the photographer clicked, no way does he belong there. At the last summit or one before, he sat there and walked around like a wallflower totally ignored and trying to get someone, anyone to talk to him.

    And where's our god!

This G7 stuff is just a corrupt mafia group; I find it hard to believe people actually listen to what they say or think of them in any kind of positive light...

(and not to speak about fires at Siberia...)

More fires burning in Angola and Congo than in the Amazon: Maps

Brazil is the third worst-affected region by recent wildfires after two countries in Central Africa.

The Group of Seven developed nations has pledged $40m to fight wildfires in the Amazon but Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro accused rich countries of angling to exploit Brazil’s natural resources [File: Victor Moriyama/Greenpeace/AFP]

Blazes burning in the Amazon have put heat on the environmental policies of President Jair Bolsonaro, but Brazil is actually third in the world in wildfires over the last 48 hours, according to MODIS satellite data analyzed by Weather Source.

Weather Source has recorded 6,902 fires in Angola over the past 48 hours, compared to 3,395 in the Democratic Republic of Congo and 2,127 in Brazil. It’s not an uncommon phenomenon for Central Africa.

According to NASA, which operates the Aqua satellite, over 67,000 fires were reported in a one-week period in June last year, as farmers employed slash and burn agriculture to clear land for crops.

Over the last 48 hours, Zambia placed fourth on the list, while Brazil’s neighbor in the Amazon, Bolivia, placed sixth.
