Denmark bans wearing of face veils in public to uphold 'Danish values'

Denmark bans wearing of face veils in public to uphold 'Danish values'-9823506-3x2-940x627-jpg

Denmark has banned the wearing of face veils in public, joining France and other European countries in outlawing the burka and the niqab worn
by some Muslim women to uphold what some politicians say are secular and democratic values.

Parliament voted on Thursday for the ban proposed by the centre-right Government, which said veils were contrary to Danish values.
Opponents said the ban, which will take effect on August 1, infringed on women's rights to dress as they chose.

Under the law, police can instruct women to remove their veils or order them to leave public areas. Justice Minister Soren Pape Poulsen said that
officers would in practice fine them and tell them "to go home".

Fines would range from 1,000 Danish crowns ($207) for a first offence to 10,000 crowns for a fourth violation.

Do Muslim women really 'choose' to dress as they do looking like a black bag of nothing or is it a 'right' imposed on them by their male religious leaders.

If what I read is true it is against the law in some Islamic countries for a woman to dress otherwise in public.

It's not something explicitly stated in the Quran, which refers only to "modesty".

People like the talitubbies want women dressed as bin bags like 3.

In most of the muslim world, a variant of 2, 4 or 5 are acceptable.

However, some overzealous family heads like 1. 1 is more common in Saudi, although 4 with the addition of a battoulah is often seen, mainly in older women.

Most enlightened countries have laws which exclude discrimination based on religion. Whatever a persons choice of religion observance, they are allowed to follow it's "customs". Who is the person who chooses what the religions "customs" are, the religions leaders or some here today gone politician?

Currently many of the alleged enlightened countries need another bogey man to subdue their population's current frustration and anger. Many are choosing to select a particular highly visible, minority group, as the target.

Some here, happily wallow in that cesspit, unfortunately.

Hello! It's Starbucks time again. Obviously, you don't know any women-folk who grew-up, in any of the totally male-dominated Muslim cultures.

FYI ~ The Burka Laws have absolutely nothing to do with Islam, as a religion. There is no such women's dress-code, specifically stated anywhere in the Holy Koran.

    Denmark
is an open-face society, by law. Thus, if insecure Muslim menfolk have a problem with the laws of a different nation, that unilaterally applies to that country's own citizenry Period!.......,

then a simple solution is> henceforth, Muslim blokeys are best advised: ~ "go-to" ~ one of those other western countries, that will pander to, and/or accommodate their little dictatorial demands.

More big brother BS. Governments have no business telling citizens what they can and cannot wear.

Big brother has absolutely nothing to do with it, Norton. Kindly stop mixing apples, with oranges. Thank you, sir

Muslim men have a penchanted reputation for traveling the world and stomping their feet, like a bunch of cry-baby tots,

demanding that other countries relax their cultural values, to kiss the Little Prince's butt. I've seen those temper-tantrums,

on far too many occasions, in several western international airports. Sorry Mehmet , butt your Mama doesn't live here. Time to grow-up!

^^ But we do, don't we? Nekkid people don't get far before being cuffed. Nazi insignia, you won't even get away with that in Berlin. As for 'Bring back Slavery' and "Gimme Apartheid", that don't fly (except in Israel). And don't turn up to a Democratic convention wearing an NRA or God Hates Fags T shirt.

Methinks pragmatism should rule the day. They can't walk into secured premises like that. Banks, airports, shopping malls, train & bus stations- Nada. But at least it's their choice.

Agree but outside of secure areas what gives the government the right to pass laws governing what folks want to wear?

Yep you were off base again and deserve the blow back. Women wearing those is about paternal domination and nothing more. Should be illegal in all western nations.

What an absurd parallel. That was used to keep the face warm not as an object of oppression.

Up to the individual woman to sort it out. Wear or not wear should be her choice.
The government should have no right to dictate what folks wear.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it. What next? Ban skirts above the knees.

You seem hung up on this oppression theme. Have you even given a thought that some if not many choose to wear it.

absolutely spot-on^. However, I prefer to view the pragmatic approach as being, "their culture; respectfully their rules", instead. Cheers
