Biden will love to solve the palestinian issue , one by the way that trump already had solved LOL. but biden has many other more important issues to resolve that would become possible if he alienates the Jewish lobby. The Republicans would love to wrench that constituency away, and club Biden over the head with it. The Middle East is a political minefield one needs tread lightly trough.

Nothing new, so what's all the excitement about? Trump and Kushner made that very clear.
The real scandal is the failing support from the Arabs.
O.K. I take that back. That is also nothing new.
Maybe that's because when they look at Israel they are actually looking into a mirror?

Yes and it is possible that Biden has realized that the conflict is almost insoluble at least as long as Netanyahu who is against a two-state solution is Israels leader.

Biden, as VP under Obama, participated himself in peace negotiations and saw how Obama stabbed his forehead bloody to bring about a final peace agreement between Israel and Palestine so he may be quite a bit disillusioned now...

It seems the right wing Israeli lobbies, in cohorts with the MI complex and those weird evangelical Christians basically rule American policy. More so than the people and their vote, more so than the elected US government- whichever party. I mean, Israel even gets America to pay billions of dollars to it annually, while it totally and openly stabs the civilised world in the back with respect to making any progress towards peace, or halting the systematic colonisation of Palestine. Yet the US government seemingly does not even have the power on making these massive annual payments contingent on Israel making any sort of progress, or exhibiting any form of good faith. just bizarre.

Neither side is going to go away so it would suit both the Israelis and the Palestinians to come to an agreement on a two state solution and then to live peacefully with each other, and helping each other as good neighbours do. Unfortunately, it seems that successive Israeli governments have not had the vision or the cajones to get anywhere near to that solution.

I'm guessing that if one government gets it wrong and Israel isn't prepared, they'll be erased. History has shown us that there are hundreds of millions surrounding them whose aim, some even in their version of a constitution, is to destroy Israel, to drive the Jews into the sea. Palestinians themselves have shown what they can and did do when given the chance . . . in Jordan.

It's just too easy for us to talk about in absolute terms , I think

Removing the "Palestinian issue" (with the Palestinians having a viable state) will remove a great deal of hatred towards Israel, in the region and in the wider world. And having two states living side by side harmoniously will allow Israel to focus on bigger threats to the Israeli state. I don't think Israel will ever be unprepared for war.

I think the Netanyahu government has deliberately killed the two state solution actually. But right wing Israel persists in this ethnic cleansing/ genocide fantasy. Ain't gonna happen- the Palis are going nowhere, surely that is as obvious as the line on ones palm by now. So a combined state with jewish and palestinian citizens is the way forward- just like every other first world state in this world with a diverse citizenry. When will Israel accept the inevitable, or be forced to? This is an apartheid struggle. And when will the US and EU grow some cojones- your citizens are getting restless.

I think that this whole thing is a ruse to keep that SOB in power. Bibi and the boys just happened to look the other way and let some rockets slip across the boarder so that they could start this "war".

    Almost certainly.

Every time Netanayu is in trouble domestically there seems to arise a "foreign threat".

Sad, but true. Not in our lifetime, anyway.
Behind the scenes, he’ll ask Bibi the Butcher to tone it down, but they will sweep this under the rug like they always do.

A good friend of mine in Kuwait read a startling statistic to me the other day. Since 2005, 23 of 24 deaths in the “conflict” have been Palestinian.

Time to let some adults in the room? After over 50 years with no progress made by the US, I would say so:-

China Calls for Immediate Cease-Fire Between Israel, Palestinians, Offers to Host Peace Talk

Wang used the opportunity to take a swipe at the United States for "obstructing" the council's efforts to take action on the conflict Sunday. Wang reiterated an immediate cease-fire and an end to Israel's blockade and ongoing siege of Gaza. Wang said Beijing supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that uses the 1967 East Jerusalem border as its capital and allows each side to coexist in the disputed areas.

Wang on Sunday looked to assert China's role in promoting lasting Middle East peace talks and said Beijing believes the root cause of the current deterioration is there has never been a just solution for the Palestinian people. The Chinese Communist Party envoy to the U.N. told the 15-member Security Council that Israel needs to stop expelling Palestinians from their homes and to respect Muslim religious sites in disputed parts of East Jerusalem. But Wang also chastised the Palestinian National Authority for escalating violence by firing rockets toward Tel Aviv this past week.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi used the country's current role at the top of the United Nations Security Council to propose an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Palestine as well as an offer to host two-state solution talks.

This will no doubt put amerkin noses out of joint, but what do they have to show except over half a century of failure, and absolute pandering to the opressor?

I don't care of Djibouti brokers a just and lasting peace accord frankly. I just know that, after over half a century, America has epically failed.

Agree, but China is not the adult or the solution. Hence the hoohoo reference, but the deliberate 'misunderstanding' is equally on brand.

Oh dear . . . while we're at it let's have the US broker peace talks between Uighurs and Beijing. Maybe the Dalai Lama can travel to Lhasa to intermediate between the Tibetans and Beijing? Australia to broker talks between ASEAN and Beijing? The UK to broker talks between India and Beijing?

Nothing but Beijing propaganda, as usual.

Peace talks . . . does anyone here actually believe they will work? Ever? Where there is Israel, there is the US. Where there are Palestinians there are Iran, Saudi, Qatar, Russia etc... Each with their own agenda.

It's hardly the 'right wing' only that believes in this. It's great to be flippant over the lives of seven million people and ignore the threats posed

Oh, wait a minute! Swallow your Beijing supplied talking points like a good lemming. Sabang has already informed us that the Uighurs walk down candy cane lanes and live in the lap of luxury as supplied by the CCP.
