The inquest will determine that the external cladding was 100% legal under present requirements.

When it comes to meeting the Requirements no Government department will accept a quote to go above what is legally required.

Maybe the requirements will be changed or maybe not.

The blame lies at the feet of the Government.

Not a fireman, but have had to do firefighting training with the prison sevice, fires in prisons are deadly, smoke not flames is a killer.

This fridge fire story does not ring true to me, you need combustable fuel to grow a fire, if as has been alleged, the double glazing had a 30 minute minimum fire resistance then it should have burnt out it's oxygen supply fast, lots of smoke, but little flame.

Sure the fire investigators wil be combing through the place, but have attendend a few prison cell and cottege fires [ small flats with 5 bedrooms, kitchen and lounge] and never seen one that burnt through the windows, those windows are just laminated to stop them shattering, the steel bars or grills keep the prisoners in.

Think you need some sort of explosion to blow out the windows, gas leak, LPG gas bottle.

If in the US or OZ, meths lab would come to mind, we will see.

I am astonished by the amount of foreign people or of foreign origin staying in this buillding. Just how many immigrants live in the U.K now? Please I mean no offence to those who perished.

i would have imagined that the ethiopian taxi driver, the occupant of the flat with the exploding fridge, would have had little knowledge of the exothermic chemical processes involved during explosive combustion in a confined space and his first action would have been to open the window in the understandable hope of clearing the smoke and fumes from the immediate vicinity. opening his front door shortly afterwards would have created a powerful draught that only would have increased the intensity of the blaze and its certain spread to the cladding outside.

as to why the fridge exploded, its anybodys guess.

........... but given the number of electrical appliances in kitchens these days, all possibly being powered at the same time via a pound shop chinese made extension cord from the same cracked socket down on the floor behind the fridge in an old poorly maintained block of flats, well, you get the picture.

Never been to those high rises, but walked a beat in Ladywood Birminghan, long time ago, but if memory serves me right, the windows could not be opened.
I may be wrong, but think at the time they didn't want jumpers.

He is called a taxi driver by the mainstream media, but in London that is a black cab operator - licenced to pick up fares from people flaggingng then down,
He may be one of those ,but more likely a mini cab driver, usually a beat up car getting fares from a head office next to a kebab shop,
Sloppy or biased reporting from the media as usual

The windows were openable, and apparently there were quite a few who made the choice to jump rather than immolate.

My money is on an overloaded plug socket with a Chinese pound shop adapter and half a dozen mobile phone chargers left in 24/7.
Ignorance, stupidity and incompetance are the culprits.

Then I take it you're not very familiar with British history or society. Britain has been a nation of immigrants for a long time now, at least 200 years. People have been complaining about it for exactly the same period of time. Many of the names some people consider foreign are 4th or 5th generation British now. You say you mean no offence, if that is true then take the time to learn something about the history and causes of immigration to Britain. Even a quick read of a wiki article on the subject will guve you a much better understanding of the subject than many here have.

Takes more than an overloaded plug to make a 24 storey block of flats burn from bottom to top in 20 minutes. Even if there was a bomb factory in the basement there was still something very very wrong with the structure of the building.

You mean burn. It's a common mistake, to immolate actually means to make a sacrifice but since it was generally conducted through some ritual involving the burning of an offering it has become a synonym for death by burning, albeit erroneously. Buddhist monks chose to immolate themselves, for example, and selected the incendiary means of igniting petrol with which they doused themselves. Folk understandably mistook the act of immolation to be a fancy way of describing death by burning when in fact it was simply another word for the act of sacrificing themselves.

    lovely immigrant

A man who posted pictures of a Grenfell Tower victim on social media has been sentenced to three months in prison.
Omega Mwaikambo was found guilty of malicious communications offences.
Mwaikambo pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today to two counts under s127 of the Communications Act.
He received six weeks in prison for each count, to run consecutively, making a total of twelve weeks (three months).
Mwaikambo was originally arrested near to Latimer Road tube station on Wednesday after he posted images relating to the fire at Grenfell Tower on his Facebook page.
The images reportedly showed a partially clothed body.

Considering what appear to be the circumstances surrounding the refurbishment of the block it may turn out that immolate is the mot juste. Your post implies that immolation is voluntary but any number of children from the Moloch-worshipping community would disagree.

Yep, and renting one of these flats in this 'ethnically, diverse, cultural Utopia' from a private landlord.

Will cost you £525 pounds per week. That is 22575 baht a week or 97825 baht per month.

    Sorry would of cost you.

Don't worry Dick, all is not lost,UK 'music mogul' and pretentious annoying twat Simon Cowell and loud mouthed gobshite Lilly Allen have joined forces to produce a charity single to help the oppressed.

It is a rework of the Elton John classic ' Candles in the wind' retitled 'Sandles in the bin'.
