Largest Non-Nuclear Explosion
Heligoland 1947 'British bang' Footage of the largest non nuclear.explosion in the world.
An island some 80 km off shore Hamburg, during WW2 base for German submarines, was bombed by Aliens 1947, collecting all (?) remaining bombs after the war. Explosions heard hundreds km away on the mainland.
With aim to sink totally the island, for no further use in a next war (if any). It had not succeeded. The island is of sandstone, it had not cracked, just a large crater.

The US just dropped a 21,600-pound conventional bomb called the Massive Ordinance Air Blast AKA the “Mother of All Bombs” (MOAB) in Afghanistan, but Russia has a bigger one.
The “Father of All Bombs,” (FOAB) is four times bigger than the MOAB. It’s a thermobaric bomb with a destruction radius of nearly 1,000 feet and a blast yield of nearly 44 tons of TNT.
Thermobaric weapons differ from conventional bombs in that they combine with atmospheric oxygen to greatly extend the blast radius.
Developed in 2007, the FOAB explodes in midair, igniting a fuel-air mixture. It vaporizing targets and collapses structures, producing blasts and aftershocks as powerful as a small nuclear blast but without the same radioactive fallout.
the brits however are believed to have developed "the second cousin twice removed" of all bombs.

Aviation Thermobaric Bomb of Increased Power (ATBIP) Russian: Авиационная вакуумная бомба повышенной мощности (АВБПМ), nicknamed "Father of All Bombs" (FOAB) Russian: "Отец всех бомб" ("Овб"), is a Russian-designed, bomber-delivered thermobaric weapon. In describing the destructive power of "FOAB", deputy chief of the Russian general staff Alexander Rukshin was quoted as saying, "all that is alive merely evaporates."[1]
The bomb is reportedly four times as powerful as the US military's GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb (whose official military acronym "MOAB" is often unofficially rendered as "Mother of All Bombs"). This Russian device would therefore be the most powerful conventional (non-nuclear) weapon in the world.[2] The veracity of Russia's claims concerning the weapon's size and power have been questioned by US defense analysts.[3]
"FOAB" was successfully field-tested in the late evening of September 11, 2007.[4] The new weapon is to replace several smaller types of nuclear bombs in its arsenal.[5]
Fireball blast from the Russian "Father of All Bombs", with the beginnings of a mushroom cloud
The thermobaric device yields the equivalent of 44 tons of TNT using about seven tons of a new type of high explosive. Because of this, the bomb's blast and pressure wave have a similar effect to a small tactical nuclear weapon, although on a smaller scale.[6][clarification needed] The bomb works by detonating in mid-air. Most damage is inflicted by a supersonic shockwave and extremely high temperatures.[5][7] Thermobaric weapons differ from conventional explosive weapons in that they generate a longer, more sustained blast wave with greater temperatures. In doing so, they produce more damage over a larger area than a conventional weapon of similar mass.[2]
Compared with MOAB Edit
According to General Alexander Rushkin, the Russian deputy chief of staff, the new bomb is smaller than the MOAB but much deadlier because the temperature at the centre of the blast is twice as high.[4][8][9] He says the bomb's capabilities are comparable to nuclear weapons, but unlike nuclear weaponry known for its radioactive fallout, use of the weapon does not damage or pollute the environment beyond the blast radius.[5]
In comparison, the MOAB produces the equivalent of 11 tons of TNT from 8 tons of high explosive. The blast radius of the FOAB is 300 meters, almost double that of the MOAB, and the temperature produced is twice as high.[7]

Analysis and veracity Edit
Some defense analysts question both the yield of the bomb and whether it could be deployed by a Tupolev Tu-160 bomber. A report by Wired[3] says photos and the video of the event suggest that it is designed to be deployed from the rear of a slow moving cargo plane, and they note that the bomb-test video released by the Russians never shows both the bomb and the bomber in the same camera shot. There are also questions on what type of explosives it used. They quoted Tom Burky, a senior research scientist at Battelle, saying "It's not even clear what kind of weapon the Russians tested." He questions if it was what some experts call a fuel-air explosive or if it was a thermobaric weapon. "Fuel-air and thermobaric bombs differ in usefulness". Burky says that the weapon depicted in the video appears to be a fuel-air explosive, based on its shape.[3]
German military analyst Sascha Lange speaking at Deutsche Welle pointed out multiple discrepancies of the released video and expressed his skepticism.[12]
John Pike, an analyst at the think tank GlobalSecurity, says he believes the weapon is roughly as powerful as the Russians claim. What he does not necessarily believe is that the weapon is new. He says the Russians have possessed a range of thermobaric weapons for at least four decades.[3] Pike says "These are fuel-air explosives, designed to generate intense blast pressure over a large area. It is reported that the Russian bomb is a so-called thermobaric bomb that produces both blast and heat. The Russian military has been a pioneer in the development and use of these thermobaric weapons. This would have to be one of the largest deliverable, droppable bombs in military history."[5]
Robert Hewson, an editor for Jane's Information Group, told the BBC it was likely that FOAB indeed represented the world's biggest non-nuclear bomb. "You can argue about the numbers and how you scale this but the Russians have a long and proven history of developing weapons in the thermobaric class", he says.[3][6] UPI claimed the device "would enormously boost Russia's conventional military capabilities".[3]

It is actually not a bunker buster. The AB in MOAB stands for 'air blast' which means it is designed to explode above the surface causing maximum damage to enemy surface materiel and personnel. Similar to the Vietnam war Daisy Cutter used to make clearings in the jungle for Hueys.
Bunker busters are designed to do the opposite i.e. penetrate as deeply as possible first before exploding. They don't produce the huge the fireball spectacle that air blast ordnance does.
Some bunker buster missiles rely entirely on penetration and don't even have a warhead. They have a very heavy and densely packed non-explosive penetration charge and they are rocket powered right up to impact (not just for ballistics) and rely on sheer kinetic energy to create the destructive forces to destroy underground tunnels and bunkers.
The MOAB last week seems more like an exercise in shock and awe to put the shivers up fatboys arse.
Either way I think it is more fetching in orange than green.

How Bunker Busters Work
There are thousands of military facilities around the world that defy conventional attack. Caves in Afghanistan burrow into mountainsides, and immense concrete bunkers lie buried deep in the sand in Iraq. These hardened facilities house command centers, ammunition depots and research labs that are either of strategic importance or vital to waging war. Because they are underground, they are hard to find and extremely difficult to strike.
The U.S. military has developed several different weapons to attack these underground fortresses. Known as bunker busters, these bombs penetrate deep into the earth or right through a dozen feet of reinforced concrete before exploding. These bombs have made it possible to reach and destroy facilities that would have been impossible to attack otherwise.
Conventional Bunker Busters
During the 1991 Gulf war, allied forces knew of several underground military bunkers in Iraq that were so well reinforced and so deeply buried that they were out of reach of existing munitions. The U.S. Air Force started an intense research and development process to create a new bunker-busting bomb to reach and destroy these bunkers. In just a few weeks, a prototype was created. This new bomb had the following features:
Its casing consists of an approximately 16-foot (5-meter) section of artillery barrel that is 14.5 inches (37 cm) in diameter. Artillery barrels are made of extremely strong hardened steel so that they can withstand the repeated blasts of artillery shells when they are fired.
Inside this steel casing is nearly 650 pounds (295 kg) of tritonal explosive. Tritonal is a mixture of TNT (80 percent) and aluminum powder (20 percent). The aluminum improves the brisance of the TNT -- the speed at which the explosive develops its maximum pressure. The addition of aluminum makes tritonal about 18 percent more powerful than TNT alone.

Green has many meanings.
Green
Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money.
Green has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance. Sometimes green denotes lack of experience; for example, a 'greenhorn' is a novice. In heraldry, green indicates growth and hope. Green, as opposed to red, means safety; it is the color of free passage in road traffic.
Use green to indicate safety when advertising drugs and medical products. Green is directly related to nature, so you can use it to promote 'green' products. Dull, darker green is commonly associated with money, the financial world, banking, and Wall Street.
Dark green is associated with ambition, greed, and jealousy.
Yellow-green can indicate sickness, cowardice, discord, and jealousy.
Aqua is associated with emotional healing and protection.
Olive green is the traditional color of peace.

BUNKER BUSTER: Bomb deadlier than MOAB could be used on North Korea, says weapons expert
AMERICA is “moving down the track” to using an even more powerful bomb in North Korea than the one it dropped in Afghanistan, according to one weapons expert
Dr Martin Navias, of King’s College London’s Centre for Defence Studies, said the MOAB (Massive Ordnance Air Blast) bomb, which was used on an ISIS tunnel in Nangahar, was not the most powerful weapon in Donald Trump’s arsenal.
Aside from the MOAB bomb – the GBU-43 – nicknamed the “Mother of All Bombs”, he said another bomb, the GBU-57 – the Massive Ordnance Penetrator – was capable of even more destruction.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s World at One, he said: “There are numerous weapons in the Americans’ arsenal that have not been used.
“There’s another weapon that’s even more interesting. We’re talking today about the GBU-43, there’s another one, the GBU-57, that’s the Massive Ordnance Penetrator, and that will be very interesting to use practically because that one goes against deepened, protected targets – that’s a bunker buster.”
He said North Korea would be “very well aware” of the threat presented by the devastating weapon.
Dr Navias said: “Israelis always wanted it to use against the Iranians and this will be the kind of weapon that the American military will want to use against North Korean leadership and weapons of mass destruction targets.
“That [the GBU-57] has not been used but by using the 43, it’s an indication that we are moving down the track and the North Koreans must be very well aware of that.”
President Trump is reportedly looking at military options as Kim Jong-un threatens to conduct a nuclear weapons test amid escalating tensions between North Korea and the US.
It comes after North Korea’s state agency KCNA warned against “serious military hysteria” and said US military action in Afghanistan “could not be overlooked”.
North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Han Song-ryol confirmed in an interview the country would conduct another nuclear test at any point Kim Jong-un wishes to.
He said: “If the U.S. comes with reckless military manoeuvres then we will confront it with a pre-emptive strike."
The US President is now deploying an “armada” into the Sea of Japan in response to Kim’s nuclear threat, and is reportedly assessing a number of military options.
