Not sure it has been debunked...But I agree that that part of "his history" doesn't seem relevant except as being "part of the whole"...

I'd be more interested in his "mental background"...And that would be more relevant...Because he seems mentally unstable...But I suppose most here on TD would have reacted the same way and the result would have been the same...And would argue that his "mental history" plays no part in it...

I say mentally unstable because he certainly "loses the plot"...But it simply may be that he figures he's above all others and will not stoop to the level of other "mere mortals" and disembark when told to do so...

I think there was something written here already about the seat booking "disclaimers"...In other words, you may be asked to "give up your seat"...And we see that some airlines actually screen their passengers to see which ones they might ask first...

If that's so, he needs to leave when asked...Just like the rest of us...If it's not so, then good for him for being a mental midget who would risk "life and limb" over such a "major inconvenience"...

Look, his reaction to being dragged from a seat he'd paid for and been giving a boarding pass for is irrelevant. He didn't assault anyone, and yet he has a broken nose and two lost teeth for his trouble.

As for the criteria used to select people to deplane, as shown above they go for the ones with the cheapest tickets with the most restrictions.

Their first fuck up was boarding everyone on the plane.

Their second fuck up was not upping the ante ($1350 and a hotel would surely have got four volunteers).

Their third fuck up was picking ANY passenger to be thrown off.

Their fourth fuck up was being so stubborn as to call in the feds to drag someone off the plane.

And their biggest fuck up was doing this because they wanted to seat their own employees instead of paying customers.

The CEO has offered an unreserved apology and stated that the passenger did nothing wrong.

Mark my words this is now simply a matter of how much they are willing to pay to make this go away without it going to court.

Eight figures, probably. And trust me it would be the cheaper option than having yet more bad publicity.

No, the news media did not get the wrong David Dao.

Angry allegations have been flying across social media on Wednesday, charging that local and national news outlets misidentified Dao, an Elizabethtown, Ky., physician, as the passenger that security dragged off a United Airlines flight on Sunday.

The Internet rumors stated that the real David Dao who was pulled off the flight was actually from Louisiana, where records and Google searches show there is a second man by that name who practices medicine. Media outlets had already been widely criticized over their coverage of the story and questioned over why it was relevant to publish details from Dao’s criminal history.

So for many social media users, if the Internet’s Louisiana theories were true, it would show that the news media was not only irritatingly invasive, but libelously sloppy — accusing another David Dao of past crimes he did not commit.

Except the Internet’s Louisiana rumors aren’t true.

“That is totally wrong, yeah,” said a receptionist who answered the phone at the office in Elizabethtown where Dao’s wife works. She confirmed that, yes, the Elizabethtown David Dao is the same David Dao who was on the United flight.

I can't tell you how many fights broke out while the play returned to our defensive side of the field. :deadhorsebig: Myself and two mates would get jostled by the opposing side's defensemen or slapped by a goalie and stix would be flying keeping in mind defensemen were larger and their stix longer. I never took off my headgear.

Great aerobic conditioning sport for younger folk.

^My brother played for Army and turned me on to the Washington Lacrosse Club. He and I also played on the same HS team for one year (I was Grade 10 and he was a senior). He played attack - small, but quick.

My nick was Mercury due to my speed...so I understand what you were saying.

I grew up in NY and didn't receive an iota of attention from any University though many NY and LI kids went full-ride to the better known lacrosse schools along the east coast.
Partying was part of the culture at that point in time. I understand the NCAA has tried to clean it up after the shakeups at Duke and Maryland.

^I never played again after Vietnam, nor did my brother - although years after almost 1000 sutures in his leg from an RPG, he started running marathons - which he still does (although it's more often 10K runs now as he closes in on 70).
