A matador who’s anus was ‘completely destroyed’ when an 11-inch bull’s horn was rammed up his sphincter is doing okay.
In fact, the fighter has shared a picture of him giving a ‘thumbs up’ from his hospital bed.
Antonio Romero was rushed to hospital after the 1,160-pound bull named Caporal attacked him in Mexico City.
‘I have faith and hope in returning to feel and show that I can be someone important in the fiesta brava,’ he told the Daily Star.
Dr. Rafael Vázquez Bayod said that he had suffered ‘very, very serious damage to his anorectal region’.
The doctor said that the bull’s horn ‘completely destroyed the anal sphincter and very seriously damaged the rectum.’
He was sent flailing across the bull fighting ground after having angered Caporal with a red rag.
Bullfighting is a major sport in Mexico, having formally been part of the Spanish empire.
The largest ring in the world, Plaza de Toros Mexico, is in the country’s capital and seats 41,262 people.
Romero, despite obvious injuries, was fortunate to have survived the incident.
