Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan once again threatened the European Unions-member states that Turkey is in a position to open the floodgates and allow millions of migrants to enter the EU, according to Reuters. The President made this threat on Friday, less than 24 hours after European lawmakers solidly voted to halt Turkey’s EU membership talks. The decision was made following what the EU parliament has called “disproportionate” reactions of the Turkish government following the failed military coup on July 15, 2016.
President Erdogan responded to the EU’s decision by stating: “If you go any further, these border gates will be opened. Neither me nor my people will be affected by these dry threats. It wouldn’t matter if all of you approved the (European parliament) vote.” The statement was made while he was addressing a congress on women’s justice in Istanbul and all comments were broadcast live and directed at European lawmakers.
Earlier Thursday night Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim also warned European Union member states that without Ankara’s help Europe might be flooded with migrants.
Yildirim spoke on Turkish television in response to the European Parliament decision to freeze negotiations on Turkey‘s accession to the EU, saying that this would be more harmful for Europe than Turkey.
“We are one of the factors that protects Europe. If refugees cross our borders, they will flood Europe. Turkey prevents that from happening,” the Turkish prime minister said.
“I accept that the interruption of relations with Europe will harm Turkey, but the damage will be five to six times worse for Europe,” he added.
The Turkish Prime Minister added that “we expect European leaders to resist this lack of vision. The EU will have to decide if it wants to continue their vision of the future with Turkey or without it.”
Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek, posted on Twitter calling the European Parliament decision “populist” and “short-sighted”, arguing that this approach will not encourage reforms in Turkey.
Currently the EU-Turkey agreement on refugee relocation has stemmed the migrant flow from the Turkish shores to the nearby Greek islands, making Greece the gateway to Europe. Greek Migration Policy Minister Yiannis Mouzalas stated recently that a breakdown of the agreement would result in dozens of thousands migrants and refugees arriving on Greek islands. Greece is already struggling with excessive numbers of migrants on the Aegean islands.

Erdogan's off on another paranoid triumphalist rave, thinks he's some sort of caliph, or at least wants to be one.

Sacked or imprisoned thousands in the last few months and now threatening to send waves of refugees to flood Europe if Turkey's not allowed to join the EU.

Who wants that medieval war-monger in Europe as a partner in government?

Taking him and his brand of social justice onboard would be like stepping back into Nazi Germany and its repressive history.

Greece, Italy and Spain have always had to deal with Muslim expansionism, and Erdogan's only beating the same dictatorial Islamic drum that previous Muslim despots have done.

He's a loser, spoiling for any excuse for a fight to control market interests.

If those three countries mentioned don't get their own house in order and stop wimping about when dealing with M.Eastern/African economic migrants, they'll just have to put up with them, as, apart from Germany and Sweden, who the hell else wants to take them and their criminal violence in?

This might escalate. I believe there are also a few Turkish NATO soldiers in Germany that are seeking asylum.

A Greek court ruled against the extradition to Turkey of three Turkish soldiers who fled to Greece after an abortive coup attempt against President Tayyip Erdogan in July, their lawyer and court officials said on Monday.
Turkey alleges the three were involved in the failed July 16 coup and has branded them traitors. They all deny playing a role in the attempt to dislodge Erdogan from power that led to a purge within the country's military and civil service.
The case has exposed the sometimes-strained relations between Athens and Ankara, NATO allies who are at odds over issues from Cyprus to air rights over the Aegean.
"I am very pleased with the ruling, they shouldn't have been extradited.. The court was objective," their lawyer Stavroula Tomara told Reuters.
The state prosecutor said the lives of the soldiers would be in danger if they were returned to their home country and the court agreed, court officials said on condition of anonymity.
The trio are among a group of eight Turkish soldiers facing extradition from Greece. They include three majors, three captains and two sergeant-majors.
The soldiers have been kept in protective custody pending the outcome of their asylum applications.
A first-instance board has rejected the asylum claims made by five of the soldiers. They have appealed that decision. The others are still waiting for a decision on their requests.
The court on Monday said the soldiers must be released and recognized as asylum seekers pending a final ruling on their claims for political asylum in Greece.

The court was expected to rule on the extradition of another three soldiers on Tuesday and two more on Thursday, one of the court officials said.

Erdogan's the new mad dog of international politics, far more of a danger to humanity than Kim Jong Un is.

At least the Korean fat man isn't trying to take over other countries, no matter how much he blows off at the mouth, unlike Erdogan the aspiring caliph.
