Bob Geldof slams revellers for wearing Primark clothes

Bob Geldof has received a backlash of criticism recently after he slammed festival-goers for wearing Primark clothes, whilst on stage in Essex.

The Irish singer who appeared at the Brentwood Festival event with his band The Boomtown Rats on Sunday, was the subject of a stern response by angry fans on social media after he went on a foul mouthed rant at the audience members calling them “boring and tame”.

It is understood the often outspoken Geldof started his rant by describing the outfits he and his fellow band members were wearing and shouted “I, for one, am wearing a fuck off pretend snakeskin suit”.

Before he he turned his attentions to the crowd saying: “On the other hand Brentwood, you are wearing wall to wall fucking Primark. This is a rock and roll festival. When you come to a rock and roll festival, dress for a rock and roll festival.”

However Geldof’s off colour remarks were not welcomed by disgruntled fans who quickly took to social media to express their anger, with one person tweeting: “Bob Geldof swearing and going mental at Brentwood festival was so inappropriate … telling the crowd off for wearing Primark.”

Whist another commented: “We left after 2 songs couldn’t bear to listen to anymore.”

Was just reading a post where the member was disparaging Primark clothes (on Jetstar), then a post where I Don't Like Mondays was quoted (Terror in Munich)

From the tenor of his rebukes I think it was pretty obvious he wasn't wittering on about the iniquities of international poverty but was primarily concerned with the festival's patrons dressing like dull, boring, characterless fuckers.

Unlike my day when I disported myself in yellow, 27 inch bell-bottomed loons, a fine self crafted tie-dyed purple T-shirt and a black velvet boxer jacket with red stars and sold window-pane acid at 50p a tab.

But then, I wouldn't have been so crass or idiotic to have parted with any dosh to see the likes of the Boomtown Rats when I had Pink Floyd (the proper one), Steppenwolf, Hawkwind, Quintessence etc., to choose from.

The line up for the 'festival' included: Level 42, Tony Hadley, ABC and The Boomtown Rats so a crowd mainly consisting of 50-year-old suburban housewives crying along to 'The Look of Love' and 'Gold'. It's a shame ISIS were otherwise engaged.

Some of that is true but he's probably correct about the audience at the festival (not sure it really qualifies as that, but anyway). Looks fucking abysmal. i think his anger stems more from the fact that he is an incorrigible prick who, (unlike john lydon, another anger filled but nicely nicely matured musician from the same generation) is unable to laugh at himself, takes himself far too seriously and still dines out on the leftover crumbs of kudos he may still be receiving for the one "good deed" he did about 40 years ago.

Unlike bownoooooooooo, Sir Bob was born well and into a super duper grouper strain of what makes Ireland what it really is today.
