At least 11 officers shot, 3 dead after attack at Dallas protest

Dallas Police Chief David Brown has confirmed at least 11 police officers were shot and at least three were killed in an attack by two snipers in downtown Dallas at a protest of officer-involved shootings across the country on Thursday night.

Brown said in a news conference at around 11 p.m. they currently have a suspect cornered in the parking garage of El Centro College in downtown Dallas and are negotiating with him to surrender.

Brown initially said 10 officers were shot, but a short time later said an 11th officer had been shot in an exchange of gunfire with one of the suspects.

It remains an active-shooter situation. Police have asked everyone to get to safety and avoid downtown Dallas. If you have any information regarding the shooting, DPD asks you to call 214-671-3485.

"Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally," Brown wrote in an earlier statement. "Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition. An intensive search for suspects is currently underway. No suspects are in custody at this time."

Some of the shooting was captured live on Facebook, as you can see below or at this link (WARNING: Graphic content).

The shot officers include both Dallas police and DART officers. They have been taken to both Parkland Hospital and Baylor Medical Center.

The shots were fired as the march was moving down Lamar Street near Griffin before 9 p.m.

An officer at the scene told News 8's Marie Saavedra the shooter had a rifle. She described several volleys of quick bursts of gunfire.

Another bystander, Richard Adams, said the protest was "a lovely, peaceful march," until they were walking down Commerce Street near the Bank of America building parking garage when he heard what sounded like "a bunch of firecrackers going off."

"Everybody just stopped -- 'Run, run for your lives!' Women with children and babies and everybody was chaotically running. And then, maybe I was a half-a-block away, calming down a little bit when we heard it again. [...] There must have been five times tonight -- whenever we thought we were safe, people said 'Run, people were shot!'"

The shooting took place near El Centro College. it has announced classes are cancelled on Friday.

We have crews at the scene and we'll have more on this as it develops.

I'm not taking sides here but blacks seem to be portraying this as just a black issue.

Far More Whites Killed by US Police

November 17, 2015 by TNO Staff— in North America · 29 Comments

Far more white people than blacks are killed by police in America, both proportionally to their population sizes and in real numbers, completely contrary to the anti-white propaganda put out by the “Black Lives Matter” campaign and its allies.

According to statistics maintained by the far-left extremist Guardian newspaper in Britain, more than half of all people killed by US police this year have been white, while only 25 percent have been black.
The Guardian’s statistics are contained in a tally of police killings maintained by that newspaper on a site titled “The Counted.” This was set up by the far-leftist newspaper with the intention of “proving” how “racist” the police in America are—an aim which has now completely backfired in face of the facts.
According to the Guardian’s tally, of the approximately 1001 people killed by police this year in America, 502 were white, 250 were black, 163 were Hispanic/Latino, 18 were Asian/Pacific Islander, 13 were American Indian, and 54 were other/unknown.

Not only do these figures show that, in real numbers, more whites are killed by police than blacks, but, when contrasted in proportion to the crime rates of each group, whites are in fact far more likely to be killed by police than any other race, especially when it comes to violent criminal offenses.
For example, according to the US Department of Justice (“Homicide Trends in the United States, 1980–2008“), blacks accounted for 52.5 percent of homicide offenders from 1980 to 2008, with whites 45.3 percent and “other” 2.2 percent.
These figures infamously added all Hispanic crimes into the “white” category, and once this distortion is stripped out, it is estimated that around 90 percent of all violent crimes in America are committed by nonwhites.
According to the National Crime Victimization Survey in 2002 (United States Department of Justice. Office of Justice Programs. Bureau of Justice Statistics. “National Crime Victimization Survey: Unbounded Data, 2002“), the black arrest rate for robbery was 8.55 times higher than whites, and blacks were 16 times more likely to be incarcerated for robbery than non-Hispanic whites. Robberies with white victims and black offenders were more than 12 times more common than the reverse.
A 2004 National Crime Victimization Survey (Bureau of Justice Statistics, Crime Data Brief, Carjacking, 1993–2003) report which analyzed carjacking over 10 years found that carjacking victims identified 56 percent of offenders as black, 21 percent as white, and 16 percent as Native American or Asian.
These statistics all clearly show that nonwhites in general—and blacks in particular—commit both in real terms and proportionally—far more crime than do whites.
It is therefore logical that they will feature far more than whites in any negative interactions with the police—yet, despite this, a larger number of whites are killed by the police than any other racial group.
The propaganda surrounding the “Black Lives Matter” campaign is therefore, based on lies, and an underlying anti-white racism—and nothing else.

This is pretty heavy shit. Shocking news.
I have no affection for rednecks with guns, be they Cletus with his gun rack in his pickup, or a racist cop, but sniping cops wholesale like this is atrocious.

Someone is very very angry, and I can feel why.
Better had they joined the march and expressed their views lawfully.

It seems there is a small civil war starting.
The only thing we need now is for the Republican Convention to select another candidate than that weirdo-Trump to run for president, and a bunch of white angry Donald-followers will get on the streets as well.

There are some, MrSausage is obviously one, who are clearly misunderstanding and misinterpreting the situation, and making themselves look extremely silly in the process.

The simple matter is that some policefolks, while on duty at a peaceful rally, were shot dead/injured by a sniper. This is terrible, these are human beings doing their civic duty. If posters are somehow attempting to justify these actions due to some other and distant police action then they are confused, to say the least; behaving in a similar way to ISIS - why not just leave a bomb to blow up random policefolks and any other innocent people who are passing...

Both snipers are now in custody. Wonder how many of the dead and wounded are/were black?

Incorrect. One man whose picture was plastered all over social media turned himself in to police. As of right now one shooter is holed up in a parking garage surrounded by police and one has taken into custody. The police have also take a female and male into custody but have stated in a press conference that just ended that they have not ruled out that others could be involved. Also no one has identified the race of the shooter in custody.

Just going off of multiple mainstream media reports. I saw a video of the shooter who's in custody - the one wearing a bulletproof vest....he's black.

Well I got what I got from a live press conference by the Dallas mayor and police chief. It just ended and one of the last things the chief said was that the shooter was exchanging fire with police and that just before the new conference he has asked for a tactical plan to end the standoff. He said as soon as this conference was over that he would be reviewing the plan. So more to come for sure.

Police continue to exchange gunfire with a cornered gunman hours after four officers were fatally shot following a peaceful protest in downtown Dallas, officials said early Friday morning.

Three other suspects were in custody in connection with the shooting that killed three Dallas police officers and one DART transit officer and wounded seven other officers, according to Dallas Police Chief David Brown.

Appears a coordinated multiple shooter situation. Taking place in Dallas not in Baton Rouge or Minnapolis where the latest shootings happened. Seems to me the shooters are an organized group who took the Dallas protest as an opportunity to execute an operation long in the planning. Just my opinion.

Yes, Dallas, and not Minneapolis of Baton Rouge. So, we can assume Dallas was chosen.

It'll be interesting to see who the snipers are.

Well some of the anti police, politicians are getting what they want, cop shoots black, must be racist shooting, proof, circumstances don't count.

Last 2 shootings, both suspects were armed, but before any real facts are known, cops are guilty.

After all of these riots and black retaliations against the police, what have the black leaders done, nothing, but increase the black on black murder and shooting rate.

Police are not activity policing inner city black areas, taking guns and bad guys off the street, encase they have an incident, cops know they will be blamed, charged, for doing their job.

Baltimore, good example, black police chief, black mayor, black special prosecutor, 6 cops found guilty in the press, not guilty by the law.
Result, if you live in a bad area, don't expect police to be protecting you, they will cover their ass, stand back and watch, stay in the car.

Now this Dallas shooting, think the US cops are too para military now, expect full body armor, APCs, snipers put a whole different form of policing on the table.

Demonstrations, riots, can not be policed as per normal, they become possible gun battles, waiting to happen.

Or perhaps most none of the above. All going down late Dallas time so well past working hours for most folks.

The remaining sniper, who was exchanging fire with police from a parking garage, took the traditional coward's way out and blew his brains out.

It seems the suspect holed up in a parking building and exchanging gunfire with police has shot himself.

So far three suspects are in custody, according to the chief. Officers are involved in a standoff with a fourth suspect in the El Centro parking garage in downtown Dallas.

She got a cap thru her calf. I'm sure she will be proud of her bro for his direct action and the scar will be but a memento of his bravery in defending her and her children's rights.

Because the rally was a protest regarding police racism, you're assuming this was an anti-police assassination. You may be right, however, since the rally was more than likely only very recently planned, but the assassinations do not look spur of the moment impulse, there is a possibility that this is terrorism by radical Islamists or other radicals.

Why target only cops? I don't know. It;s just an idea that it's possible.

    It is indeed all perspective.

Still, killing to revenge killing is... barbaric.
