^He was a bit of a genius in the '80's. Prolific as well; fantastic guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, dancer, performer, etc. Seemed to have had a meltdown in the 90's with the "symbol; artist formerly known as Prince", etc.
Shared a few girlfriends with degenerate rock stars like Nikki Sixx, Anthony Keidis, etc. who were complete coke / crack heads at the time, so dunno if Princey was on the same gear..?

Sheila E reckons the painkillers he took were for hip pain. Caused mainly by 30 years in high heels, so there's a warning for you df.

Prince's Death 'Probably' Due to Drugs: Expert Pathologist Wecht
by ALASTAIR JAMIESON and ELISHA FIELDSTADT
With no obvious signs of trauma to the body and nothing to indicate suicide, Prince's surprise death looks likely to have been the result of a drug overdose, an expert said Saturday.

The 57-year-old superstar was found dead at his estate in Minneapolis Thursday, and autopsy results are not expected to be released until next week.

No, not confused at all. Drugs and music just seem to go together. Sad though, may he rest in peace.

Not surprising is it, still he was a 'genius' so he must have known what he was doing

He wrote and produced a catalogue of beautiful and evocative songs.

This is the only version on the web I can find of my favourite...

The only thing he was really good at IMO was protecting his property, that's why it's hard to find anything to download for free, I imagine that will change now he's snuffed it. Good on him for that, but his lyrics seem simplistic to me, purple rain? what a load of bollocks that one was.

He did not have a patch on your old favourite- George Formby - I can hear you now belting out "imagine me on the Maginot line........."

Apparently there are enough unreleased songs in a bank vault at his purple ranch to release an album per year for the next 100 years.

Prince's estate: who holds the keys to the vault of 2000 unreleased songs?

Personally, I only know two Prince songs, a pleasant little ditty called "Red Corvette" and a forgettable song called "Purple Rain" ... meh.

    Singer cremated in private ceremony

Prince has been cremated with a small, private service for family, friends and musicians, his publicist has confirmed.

The cause of his death is still unknown and the results of Friday's autopsy could take at least four weeks.

Officials said there were no signs of injuries to his body and no indication that he had killed himself.

Publicist Anna Meacham said the singer's "final storage" would be kept private.

"A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving goodbye," she said.

Among the people who attended the ceremony were percussionist Sheila E, bassist Larry Graham and Prince's sister Tyka Nelson.

This is all so sad. Now that he has died and been burnt, I can admit that he was someone whose songs i had heard on the radio a few times. In fact I think I bought (or copied onto a cassette?) one of his albums once as well. It is an utter tragedy that he is dead. Why? So young! My life feels a bit empty now that the mass hysteria about his death is making think that I worshipped him. How can life go on without him here?

I thought he was crap to be honest and no great loss, some see him as an icon a genius and an inspiration though, takes all sorts. I saw an article the other day moaning that more people should call Beyonce a genius, dear god what next. What I do think is sad, his musical talents or not aside, is that the public continue to put people like him on pedestals, then wonder why they end up living in compounds and often going off the rails with the prescription drugs and odd lifestyles

About the Rapture and being guided by God, apparently.

Simplistic? Maybe. But then it's also in the magnitude of several million times more successful than any song that you have ever written or ever will.

And I bet that's what this is all about really innit, the chips on your shoulder making you insecure about anyone that is more successful than yourself.

Which on the evidence of it is practically everyone.

As you are now a music critic Tony what do you think of Eric Clapton and his claims that Prince was a 'genius' ?

Well he's entitled to his opinion isn't he.

As a musician himself (and rather a successful one at that) I'd be inclined to give it more credence than the opinion of someone who has achieved nothing music wise.

I never much cared for the guy's music but he was great at riling up the Mary Whitehouse types with his lyrics and stage antics.

“Among the many ecstatic notices, Robert Christgau, the self-appointed ‘dean of American rock critics’, put it best, in a review that would still be being quoted when he left the Village Voice twenty-six years later: ‘Mick Jagger should fold up his penis and go home.

So within 30 minutes of his death they were announcing he died in "unsuspicious circumstances" now he has been cremated! so any queries from the autopsy...

"It’s a sad day. We have lost Prince, one of those rare, fearless people, an advocate for truth, prepared to stand up to the powers that be and expose them for what they are.

Prince knew the score. He famously walked around at the Grammys with SLAVE written on his cheek to protest against the terms of his contract with a multinational corporation. He told us we were all becoming slaves living on a New World Order slave plantation. He went on mainstream TV and told millions about the chemtrail agenda.
He was fighting the good fight.

Slave with gold chains......FFS. A 'statement' to try to screw more money out of a corporation. Just a very short, money-grubbing kunt.

It's not as though he didn't know the terms of the contract when he agreed to it.

And I always thought the corporations are screwing us.
By the way there are lot of musicians (Dire Straits etc.) that changed name in order to screw the big corporation .
