Possible Terror Attack in London Today

    Just the beginning.

Knifeman injures four in suspected terror attack in London | The Times of Israel

Leytonstone Underground Station, London (Sunil060902 / Wikipedia)

A man wielding a large knife stabbed several people at a London underground station on Saturday night, in a suspected terror attack.

One of the victims was “very seriously injured,” with a knife wound to the neck, Sky News said.

The attacker called out “This is for Syria,” several eyewitnesses said.

Britain voted last week to join air strikes against Islamic State in Syria, and has begun flying such missions.

Police were investigating whether the incident, at Leytonstone underground station in East London, was “an Islamist attack,” the Sky TV report said.

The attacker was tasered several times, and eventually subdued and taken into custody.

Film of the attack showed a pool of blood in the station ticket hall, and the alleged assailant being tasered.

An eyewitness, Laurynas Godvisa, said she saw the attacker still armed with the knife, and a body on the floor, the Guardian reported. “I was so scared I ran for my life. After good 10-15 (minutes) police came and got the guy and arrested him. And as he was coming out this is what he said: ‘This is what happens when you f*** with mother Syria all of your blood will be spilled’.”

    Terror Attack, Police Say

    By Melissa Gray, CNN
    Updated 2357 GMT (0757 HKT) December 5, 2015

Police are treating it as a "terrorist incident"
    One person suffers serious injuries
    Suspected attacker is in custody
(CNN)A man stabbed three people at an east London tube station Saturday before police subdued him with a stun gun and made an arrest, London's Metropolitan Police said.

Police said they were treating the stabbing at Leytonstone station as a terrorist incident.

One man sustained serious injuries not considered to be life-threatening, police said. Two others suffered minor injuries.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m., police said. The suspect was taken to a London police station.

Commander Richard Walton, who leads the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, said: "We are treating this as a terrorist incident."

"I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant. The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely."

A senior European counterterrorism official told CNN this week that intelligence obtained by European security agencies indicates ISIS is aiming to attack the United Kingdom following the terrorist attack in Paris last month.

Police officers investigate the tube station late Saturday, December 5.
Videos posted to YouTube and on Twitter purport to show the aftermath of Saturday's London stabbing. A large pool of blood is on the ground near the exit gates.

Several show police confronting a man inside the station, near the exit, and yelling, "Drop it! Right now!"

They fire a stun gun at the man, who is wearing a gray top, tan pants and a black hat with ear flaps. But the man continues pacing in front of the officers and even lunges at them.

In one video, a woman can be heard saying, "I just want to get out of here." The scene is loud, with voices echoing throughout the station and police repeatedly shouting at people to get back.

There is more shouting before another pop is heard, apparently from the stun gun, and the man falls to the ground. Someone watching shouts, "Yes! Stupid idiot!"

Two police officers roll the man onto his stomach and handcuff him.

A man in the crowd shouts, "You ain't no Muslim, bruv! You're no Muslim, bruv! You ain't no Muslim!"

CNN's Carol Jordan, Marilia Brocchetto, Kay Guerrero and Nicola Goulding contributed to this report.

Silly Brittles with their 'no guns for everyone' policies. Poor terrorists have to resort to pilfering the kitchen. So unfair.

^I know, its just so unfair... we make it too hard for him to get some real weapons and those evil bastards in the police refusing to send him to his 72 virgins.

This rather reminds me on the chap who believed all that bollocks about planned parenthood and went off and murdered 3 people.

The Metropolitan Police said one man suffered "serious knife injuries" but was not thought to be in a life threatening condition.

Two other victims received "minor injuries" in the attack.
so he was on a "rampage" with a machete for around 10 minutes and that was the extent of the carnage.

that was no terror attack, that was just a night out for a drugged up east london coon after an argument with his woman.

It doesn't seem to be a terrorist attack at all, but with the authorities and media saying it is then we best do some more bombing against those terrible terrorists and support our Saudi friends to behead 50 terrible terrorists next week...
(Also great application of extremist laws over civil populations.)

seems they are calling it a terrorist attack, because of what the chap was saying..... this is for syria....

and unless he knows his victims and they were involved in syria.... it would be reasonable to suggest that this is a terrorist attack by a rather pathetically unsuccessful individual.

i guess we are lucky her could not simply go to tesco's and buy an assault rifle

Why would the UK do such a thing in today's world? Will it continue now that the British are uping their game in Syria along with the attacks in Paris?

well he should have been shot, now hundreds of thousands of pounds of public money will be spent on investigating, prosecuting and incarcerating the man.

tasering is for shoplifters and late night drunks, not knife wielding madmen.

Leytonstone Tube station stabbing a 'terrorist incident'

As Nick Quraishi reports, video of the aftermath of the attack has been posted online
A stabbing at a Tube station in east London is being treated as a "terrorist incident", the Met Police has said.

Police were called to reports of people being attacked at Leytonstone station just after 19:00 GMT. The knifeman reportedly shouted "this is for Syria".
A man was arrested after being Tasered by police. One man suffered serious knife injuries while two others received minor injuries.

Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism detectives are investigating the case.
Downing Street said it was monitoring the situation closely.
The Met said the suspect was reportedly threatening other people with a knife.
A witness told the BBC he saw a man holding a knife, about 3ins (7.5cm) long, standing over another man who was lying on the ground, and people running out of the Central Line station.

There has been severe disruption to the Tube as a result of the attack
Police said they received a call at 19:06 GMT and the man was arrested at 19:14.
They said the most seriously-hurt victim's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Commander Richard Walton, who leads the Met's Counter-Terrorism Command, said: "We are treating this as a terrorist incident. I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant."The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Leytonstone underground station earlier this evening at around 7pm who saw anything suspicious to call the anti-terror hotline on 0800 789 321."Anyone who may have captured video or photographic footage of the incident is also urged to make contact with the Counter-Terrorism Command via the Anti Terror hotline"

    'Thin blade'

Witness Michael Garcia, 24, a financial analyst from Leytonstone, said he was walking along an underground passage that runs through the station when he saw people running outside."I realised it wasn't a fight but something more sinister," he said.
He then saw "a guy, an adult, lying on the floor with a guy standing next to him brandishing a knife of about three inches... maybe a hobby knife"."It had a thin blade, but looked fairly long," Mr Garcia said. "He was screaming 'go on, then, run' to everyone else. He was pacing back and forth next to the guy on the floor. He came up to the barriers."

Another witness, named Khayam, told BBC Radio 5 live people were shouting and throwing things at the arrested man as he was led from the station.
"I saw pedestrians shouting at him, one tried to throw a bottle and the police officers said 'back off' and took him to the police van."I saw a victim come out on a vertical stretcher with ambulance staff and several minutes later police closed off the station and evacuated everyone from the area."

Leytonstone station has remained cordoned off and closed with no trains running through it
Videos have been posted on the internet, purportedly showing the attacker in the station.
BBC correspondent Helena Lee said: "A number of videos have been posted, unverified, but I have seen a couple of those where we see the suspect near the ticketing hall at Leytonstone Tube station.
"You see this man shouting various things and then he is surrounded by a number of police officers.
"They try to Taser him, they fail a number of times and then they are successful.
"You then see the suspect fall to the ground, drop what appears to be a knife in his hand, that falls to the ground as well and then they arrest him."

    'Absolutely shocking'

There has been severe disruption to the Central Line on the Tube since the attack.
No trains were running between Liverpool Street and Woodford and Newbury Park for the rest of the night and there have been lengthy delays on the the rest of the line.

Tickets are being accepted on local buses and Abellio Greater Anglia and TfL Rail trains.
A spokeswoman for 10 Downing Street said: "There is an ongoing police investigation into the attack in London. We are monitoring the situation closely as further details emerge."

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn wrote on Twitter: "The stabbing in Leytonstone is absolutely shocking. My thoughts are with the victim and his family."

Tim Farron, leader of the Liberal Democrats, tweeted that the attack "was an act of pure evil".

I tend to agree with, Tax - just a nobody, drunk, on drugs, angry, wife left him, whatever, that shouted some shite when he was angry. I don't see the ISIS support network and carefully planned terrorist attack in this case.

at my local sainsburys they once cordoned off the whole length of the dairy aisle because a little brat had spilt a large tub of yoghurt on the floor and the whole area was deemed too dangerous for human habitation for nearly 20 minutes until the cleaning squad with their hi tech kit of trolleys, mops, cloths and detergents had gone over the area like a bomb disposal squad.

    talk about overkill.

They do have real guns. But in this case as the guy had a knife so they used appropriate force.

    Had he had a gun
