If their good they could link people on watch lists, publish names of terrorist and where the money comes from.
That might not be good for some western governments and alleged allies in the middle east.

All about misdirection and condition, which most absorb unconditionally without challenging or critical thought.

I don't think a bunch of script kiddies with inflated egos is actually going to do an awful lot of good.

You might be right but from past evidence it would seem they might be able to cause some irritating confusion.

Does that mean Anonymous have given up their 'war' against the Thai government? Or can they multi-task?

If they're going to cause chaos they need a far shorter intro.

If anything there is a good chance they may fuck up ongoing intelligence-gathering operations.

Absolutely - not having a 100% track record doesn't mean they can't help unearth where these arseholes are sending their propaganda from and disrupt it, among other things
ISIS prides itself on being tech-savvy and using the internet to further their aims - if Anon can screw that up - good for them

But the problem is if Intelligence services are watching IS chatter to identify who's involved and then these morons come along and out them.

It's precisely because of this that they've gone looking for more secure means to communicate.

If you look at the results of Anonymous "operations" on Pastebin, half the time they're just using basic exploits and freely downloadable tools to get shit that isn't even that interesting or worthwhile.

So they managed to persuade a KKK member to click on a link thinking he was getting black kiddie porn or something, and got hold of his email.

    Whoop de fucking doo.

Anonymous claims takedown of 5,500 ISIS Twitter accounts

WASHINGTON - The hacker group Anonymous claimed Tuesday to have taken out 5,500 Twitter accounts linked to the Islamic State group, which claimed responsibility for the Paris attacks.

The loosely organised hacking collective made the claim in a tweet one day after launching #OpParis campaign, which stepped up an earlier effort to shut down social media accounts of the organisation.

"We report that more than 5500 Twitter account of #ISIS are now #down! #OpParis #Anonymous #ExpectUs," said a tweet posted on Tuesday which followed a video message posted Monday.

It was not immediately clear how the accounts would have been disabled. But the hacker group said it posted the accounts to an online forum labeling them as #daeshbags, a reference to Daesh, an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State group.

In an apparent riposte, a message posted via the messaging service Telegram calls on Islamic State affiliates to secure their Internet communications.

"The #Anonymous hackers threatened... that they will carry out a major hack operation on the Islamic state (idiots)," the message said.

Anonymous has waged a long-running campaign against the Islamic State group but stepped up the effort following the attacks last Friday in the French capital.
