I agree. So called "collateral" damage is unacceptable. But so is "friendly fire". And in that case, it's not considered, in general, as anything much more than a colossal fuckup. And while both types of accidents are avoidable and tragic, the day will come when they're a thing of the past. Therefore, missions shouldn't be cancelled for that reason alone, cruel as that may sound.

Could easily come to this. The Paris attacks will certianly benefit right wing political parties. 10s of thousands known jihadist in Europe. Would take millions of law enforcement folks to monitor their activities. Deportations and "preventitive" incarceration possible if citizens are willing to give up rights to due process and civil liberty. Both have already been eroded to make us "safer". More to come I fear.

Don't be silly. There's no way western governments could or would deport (innocent) Turks, Moroccans, Egyptians, Yemenis, Tunisians, Libyans, Algerians, etc to Syria.

You said it "Could easily come to this" (deporting innocent Turks, Moroccans, Egyptians, Yemenis, Tunisians, Libyans, Algerians, etc to Syria). That's the part that is silly. It will never happen and it would certainly not be an easy thing to achieve.

ISIS confirms Jihadi John's death

ISIS has confirmed the death of "Jihadi John" -- aka Mohammed Emwazi, aka Abu Muharib al-Muhajir -- in the latest issue of its Dabiq magazine.

U.S. officials said in November that they were reasonably certain the English-speaking voice of the terror group had been killed in a targeted drone strike in Raqqa, Syria, ISIS' de facto capital.

The confirmation in Dabiq was the first time ISIS addressed the militant's death.

As the masked face of ISIS, Jihadi John was featured in a series of hostage videos, dressed head-to-toe in black -- his eyes and voice his lone revealing features -- and holding a knife.

Earlier this month, a British-sounding militant appeared in a chilling propaganda video from ISIS. The speaker's accent and dress brought to mind Jihadi John, and the latter's absence lent credence to Western intelligence agencies' belief that he was indeed dead.

Dabiq published an image of Jihadi John with his face unmasked, along with an obituary.

It reported he was originally from the northeast of the Arabian Peninsula, and that he traveled at a young age with his family to London, a place he "grew to hate."
