WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) – Calling the Obama Administration’s actions against the soccer organization “weak and ineffective,” Senator John McCain on Thursday proposed military action to “dismantle and destroy FIFA once and for all.”

“These are people who only understand one thing: force,” McCain said on the floor of the United States Senate. “We must make FIFA taste the vengeful might and fury of the United States military.”

McCain said that he was “completely unimpressed” by the Department of Justice’s arrests of several top FIFA lieutenants this week, calling the action “the kind of Band-Aid solution that this Administration, sadly, has become famous for.”

“Rounding up a few flunkies in a hotel is meaningless when the leader of FIFA remains at large,” he said. “I will follow Sepp Blatter to the gates of Hell.”

McCain requested a four-billion-dollar aid package for moderate elements within global soccer, and said that the United States should be prepared to put boots on the ground in Switzerland.

Calling the use of force against FIFA “long overdue,” he placed the blame for the group’s alarming growth squarely on the shoulders of the White House. “Barack Obama created FIFA,” he said.

Visa May Downgrade FIFA's Credit Rating Over Corruption Arrests

By Gary Cutlack on 29 May 2015 at 3:30PM

FIFA's being spoken to in the only language it appears to understand by global banking giant Visa, which is threatening to abandon its lucrative sponsorship contracts with the footballing body unless it acts quickly to reassure the public that it's not all about shady deals involving millions of pounds in unmarked banknotes.

According to Reuters, Visa says FIFA needs to start "rebuilding a culture with strong ethical practices" in the wake of the corruption arrests, suggesting that if it doesn't see rapid change it plans to "reassess" its sponsorship of major tournaments.

Visa explained: "Our disappointment and concern with FIFA in light of today’s developments is profound. As a sponsor, we expect FIFA to take swift and immediate steps to address these issues within its organization."

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Blatter Wins FIFA Vote Amid Corruption Storm

UEFA president Michel Platini (right) congratulates FIFA president Sepp Blatter after he was re-elected

    May 30, 2015

ZURICH - Sepp Blatter won the Fifa presidency for a fifth time Friday after his challenger Prince Ali bin al Hussein withdrew just before a scheduled second round.

The veteran Swiss powerbroker fell seven votes short of the required 140 majority in the first round of voting.

Just before the second round was about to start the Jordanian prince, a Fifa vice president who had campaigned on the need for reform, withdrew thanking those "brave enough" to vote for him.

Blatter, 79, has been Fifa's president since 1998 and has defied European calls to stand down as corruption scandals tarnish the multi-billion dollar body's image.

Michel Platini has insisted football's governing body must change in the wake of Blatter's re-election as Fifa president for a fifth and final term on Friday.

Platini, the president of European football's governing body Uefa, said change was still crucial after seven senior FIFA officials were arrested in Zurich on Wednesday on charges of corruption.

"I am proud that Uefa has defended and supported a movement for change at Fifa," said Platini, who had backed Prince Ali's failed bid.

"Change which in my opinion is crucial if this organisation is to regain its credibility.

I'm proud that the justice department has defended and supported a movement for change at FIFA, too.

And I hope they've got a lot more up their sleeve.

Imagine having this aging nut as President with a bimbo like Palin as Vice President? I'm quite sure this is article is parody, but given the insanity level of McCain it took me several readings to conclude that.

FIFA Top Aide Transferred $10 Million

FIFA president Sepp Blatter (R) speaks with
Secretary General Jerome Valcke during a press
    conference on May 30, 2015

    Bangkok Post / AFP
    June 2, 2015

NEW YORK - FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke, who is Sepp Blatter's top lieutenant, made $10 million in bank transactions to an account controlled by another high-ranking soccer official, The New York Times reported on Monday.

US federal authorities said the transfer of millions in 2008 from FIFA to accounts controlled by former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner are key elements of the ongoing corruption scandal that has engulfed football's governing body.

The newspaper, citing several law enforcement officials, said the payments are a crucial part of last week's indictment against nine FIFA officials by US authorities and shows the money trail is closer to FIFA President Blatter than previously known.

some fifa nutter does not know what the onion is

Former FIFA vice president Jack Warner, who is on bail on bribery charges, wasn’t laughing as he cited a work of satire published in the Onion on Sunday.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page (it was subsequently taken down but appears to have been reposted by YouTube user rpmackey , Warner blasted an ongoing U.S. Justice Department investigation into his alleged malfeasance at FIFA and brandished a printout of an article published in the Onion to bolster his position.
The article, entitled “FIFA Frantically Announces 2015 Summer World Cup in United States,” was published hours after U.S. authorities commenced a sweeping corruption probe into soccer’s international governing body on Wednesday that indicted several of the association’s top officials, including Warner, who is from Trinidad and Tobago.
The mocking suggestion of the article is that FIFA would be willing to organize a “summer World Cup” simply to appease U.S. authorities. However, the satirical point was lost on Warner. He asks why the U.S. would be willing to host such an event “if FIFA is so bad.”
Warner is currently facing extradition to the U.S.

But when you are the type who judges the quality of information based on how true you would like it to be.... these fuckups are inevitable once you start trawling the internet for 'alternative' media.

    Blatter quits.
Fifa president Sepp Blatter is being investigated by US officials as part of their inquiry into corruption at the world football body, US media say.
The news came hours after Mr Blatter announced that he was stepping down from his role.
US prosecutors launched a criminal inquiry last week, with seven Fifa officials arrested in Switzerland, part of a group of 14 people indicted.
Two days after the arrests, Mr Blatter was re-elected president of Fifa.
However, he said on Tuesday that it appeared the mandate he had been given "does not seem to be supported by everyone in the world".
Mr Blatter said: "Fifa needs profound restructuring."
    'Bribes and kickbacks'
US officials quoted in the New York Times said they hoped to gain the co-operation of some of the Fifa figures now under indictment on charges of racketeering and money laundering to try to build a case against Mr Blatter.

In announcing the indictments last week, the US Attorney General Loretta Lynch insisted that they were at the beginning of their investigation rather than the end.
She also called - just days before Sepp Blatter's re-election for a fifth term as president - for Fifa to make a new start.
It is primarily the American investigation that has plunged the world's governing body into the most serious crisis in its history.

Earlier the FBI, Internal Revenue Service and the US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, who is involved in the US prosecutions, all said they would not comment on the Blatter resignation.
In its prosecution, the US justice department said 14 individuals were under investigation worldwide for allegedly accepting bribes and kickbacks estimated at more than $150m (£97m) over a 24-year period.
Two vice-presidents were among the seven Fifa officials arrested in Zurich. They all await US extradition proceedings.

Brazilian footballing legend Pele told the BBC that the developments surrounding Fifa and Sepp Blatter "surprised everyone".
"My position is like a player. I want to see football put people together, stop the war," he said.
    "Fifa needs honest people."
The arrests overshadowed the vote for a new president, which Mr Blatter won, defeating his sole challenger, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein of Jordan.
Prince Ali withdrew despite forcing a second round, having lost the first by 133 votes to 73.

Announcing his exit on Tuesday, 79-year-old Mr Blatter called an extraordinary Fifa congress "as soon as possible" to elect a new president.
The Swiss, who has been Fifa president since 1998, said: "The next ordinary Fifa congress will take place on 13 May, 2016 in Mexico City.
"This would create unnecessary delay and I will urge the executive committee to organise an extraordinary congress for the election of my successor at the earliest opportunity.
"This will need to be done in line with Fifa's statutes and we must allow enough time for the best candidates to present themselves and to campaign."
The extraordinary congress is expected to take place between December 2015 and March 2016.
Further allegations of corruption emerged on Tuesday with claims that Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke was linked to an alleged $10m (£6m) payment of bribes over South Africa's bid to host the 2010 World Cup. He denies any wrongdoing.
A separate criminal investigation by Swiss authorities into how the 2018 and 2022 World Cups were allocated is also under way.

Fifa sponsors, including Visa, Coke, and McDonald's, have welcomed Sepp Blatter's decision to resign as president of football's world governing body.
Mr Blatter's decision to step down comes amid a corruption scandal.
However, both Visa and Coke repeated warnings that they expected a swift overhaul at Fifa.
And McDonald's said it hoped this would be the first step towards "gaining back trust from fans worldwide".
Last week, Fifa was hit by the arrests of top officials on charges of racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering as part of a US prosecution that also indicted 14 people.
Mr Blatter was subsequently re-elected, but on Tuesday resigned, saying that his mandate "did not appear to be supported by everybody".
Visa said it was encouraged "by the recognition by Fifa that extensive and fundamental reform is needed as reflected by the announcement that President Blatter is resigning".
"This is a significant first step towards rebuilding public trust, but more work lies ahead," it continued.
"We repeat, however, that it is our expectation that Fifa will take swift and immediate steps towards addressing the issues within its organisation to quickly rebuild a culture with strong ethical practices that will restore the reputation of the games for fans around the world."
    'Act with urgency'
That sentiment was echoed by Coke, which described the move as "a positive step", but added that it expected Fifa to "act with urgency" and "win back the trust of all who love the sport of football".
"We believe this decision will help Fifa transform itself rapidly into a much-needed 21st Century structure and institution," Coke said.
Other sponsors, Budweiser, Adidas and McDonald's, also issued broadly positive statements.
"We expect today's announcement to accelerate Fifa's efforts to resolve internal issues, install positive change and adhere to the highest ethical standards and transparency," said Budweiser.
Adidas said the news marked "a step in the right direction on Fifa's path to establish and follow transparent compliance standards in everything they do."
For its part, McDonald's said it was "hopeful" that the changes being implemented would lead to Fifa being reformed and "gaining back trust from fans worldwide".
Hyundai said the resignation was a "positive first step in creating a governance structure that ensures the highest ethical standards for the sport."
