It's called innovation take the most sold product, redesign it and sell it. Unfortunately many countries put Chinese electronics on the "security sanction/ban" list so many are unable to take advantage of superior products for less money.

Your government political appointees "protecting" you or their imaginary/manipulated stock markets and campaign funders?

^he posts like a wind-up clockwork muppet. Just spraying indoctrinated brainwashed garbage. I wonder what caused his brain to suffer such a catastrophic failure with relation to one specific obsessive political issue. I don't remember noticing any other political opinions from him on other threads.

China's media urges 'rational patriotism' amid KFC protests

Chinese state media have called for "rational patriotism" amid a series of anti-US street protests at KFC outlets.

The protesters are angry about the outcome of an international tribunal ruling rejecting China's territorial claims in the South China Sea.

The case against China was brought by the Philippines, a US ally which has a competing claim in the area.

Communist Party mouthpiece China Daily said the "jingoism" of the protests did "a disservice to the nation".

    What were the tribunal's findings?
Why is the South China Sea contentious?
    China's island factory

How big have the protests been?

Image caption 'Get out of China, Kentucky and McDonalds', reads this banner

    Not huge, but animated.

In recent days, small groups of protesters have gathered outside KFC outlets, starting in Hebei and spreading to other places including Changsha and Hangzhou, media reports said.

They have shouted anti-US slogans and held up banners with the words "Get out of China, KFC and McDonalds".

KFC has more than 4,000 branches in China and is often seen as a symbol of US influence in the country.

    Image copyright Weibo
Image caption Policemen could be seen intervening in some of the protest videos posted online

In some of the videos of protests which were posted to Sina Weibo, police can be seen intervening.
    What have state media said?

One editorial in the Communist Party's flagship newspaper People's Daily said police and media were both "calling for rational patriotism".

Another said: "Instead of being patriotic, it is their jingoism that does a disservice to the spirit of devotion to the nation.

"Those who organise such activities without going through the necessary procedures and unlawfully harass others in the name of patriotism should be held accountable according to the law."

In China, protesting without seeking permission from the authorities is forbidden.
But what does KFC have to do with the tribunal?

Nothing. However, China has accused the US of encouraging its ally, the Philippines, to challenge China in the arbitration tribunal.

The tribunal, in the Hague, ruled there was no evidence for China's claim of historic rights to the waters or resources within its "nine-dash line", and that it was violating the Philippines' sovereign rights with its operations there.

China has been engaged in vast amounts of construction on various disputed islands and its maritime authorities have been involved in altercations with Philippines fisherman in the Scarborough Shoal.
Image caption The tribunal in the Hague ruled that there was no evidence that China had historic rights to the waters or resources that fell within its "nine-dash line"

China refused to participate in the proceedings and rejected the findings.

    Is it just KFC?
    Image copyright Weibo
Image caption One comment on this photo urged people to buy Thai mangoes instead

No. Chinese netizens have also been sharing images online of people apparently smashing iPhones in protest over the ruling, or wearing scarves with patriotic slogans on them.

The Shanghaiist website reported that in Dalian a man wearing Nike shoes was attacked on the subway, supposedly because the wearing of American brands showed support.

And the Philippines is also facing the wrath of some Chinese online, who are calling for a boycott of its famous mangoes and other exports.

China's media criticises anti-US protests at KFC outlets as jingoistic - BBC News

The weibo netizens are really crying and spitting the dummy about the inevitable ICJ rebuff.

The territorial claims being made are so obviously ludicrous that there surely must be at least some chinks who can recognise this and have a more realistic opinion. Has anybody seen any evidence of just one chinky somewhere who accepts the nonsense of the claim?

Most Chinese would not have a clue who invented what. Their education is parochial, narrow and limited. We seem to forget this.

To see trhe true mentality behind all this, just view some of the astoundingly childish dummy spits by Mainland Chinese people....some of which have featured here on TD and Youtube.

Even worse than some posters here !

A few examples from an English online dictionary for you. Note that many imply adding something new, or modifying an existing product, process or method.

    change, alteration, revolution, upheaval, transformation, metamorphosis, reorganization, restructuring, rearrangement, recasting, remodelling, renovation, restyling, variation;
    new measures, new methods, new devices, novelty, newness, unconventionality, modernization, modernism;

For example. A mobile phone could use one sort of CPU. The existing CPU requires a certain size battery to last one day. Substituting a different, more efficient, CPU may allow the reduction in size of the battery and either reducing say the phone thickness or adding more "chips" to the circuit board (allowed because it can be bigger now the battery is smaller) which may enhance the abilities of the phone. Alternatively the battery life could be doubled to allow less frequent recharges.

Therefore, the Innovation/change/redesign, may open up a larger market for the existing phone. More likely the new "feature" will be marketed as a "zzzzzzzzphoneII" for more money and more kudos with the sheeple.

    Remedial English beckons.

You are talking in circles. Innovation is creating something not stealing from someone else. In your perverse view you are justifying patent infringement and stealing of technology. China is not known for innovation that happens in places like Silicon Valley.

Chinese do not make 'superior products'.
Where you got this idea from I'll never know.
The don't innovate except in a way to try to cleverly 'improve' on existing products (to show how smart they are) inevitably failing monstrously, and they have no concept of quality. They build to price,
Where you got the idea Chinese make 'superior products' I can't imagine.

How do you think pharma companies make profits. They take an old recipe, add one more ingredient and hey they have another few years of patent cover. They ensure, by buying the legislators, that the entry into any of their bloated markets is impossible.

They only thing that happens in Silicon valley is investors being ripped off - you do remember the recent technology bubble popping?

Maybe it's the large number of customers around the world than continue to order "products" from Chinese companies. Or are the buyers of the product stupid or just after being "superior" by getting a good deal. Maybe it's the way that sanctions and illegal taxes are levied at countries which produce a product to specification but are denied access, as enshrined in WTO rules, because they are a security risk.

But hey that's the western way, making their consumers overpay for inferior products all wrapped up in the red/yellow peril story which you all suck up with glee.

Due diligence is what's required not bashing other races.

Silicone valley is known worldwide for marketing "Overpriced, Quickly Obsolete, Products".

    An example:

    The Apple Watch.

Sold to the sheep at an extortionate price, but they were happy to buy them, suckers. Do you see many being worn? Probably not as they, allegedly, only last 4 hours on a battery charge. Innovative inventors produce a watch which lasts months on a tiny battery. But of course it doesn't check-in with NSA, doesn't connect .......

Asia says, "you have the clock, we have the time".

Sales have collapsed, but no problems the Apple Watch Mk2 will be available soon. It's rumoured the battery will last 4 hours and 6 minutes. What an innovative unexceptional company.

"The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), which is independently developed and operated by China, is well positioned to provide services worldwide. It will service countries along the Belt and Road Initiative by 2018 and expand its reach globally by 2020.

Zhang Chunling, Chief Engineer of China's Satellite Navigation System management office, made the remarks on Saturday while attending a technical seminar in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.
Zhang said that the BDS has provided regional services for three years, with stronger performances in Beijing and Nanjing as well as low latitudes"

One could say the Chinese have only redesigned an existing product, which may be true, one could also say that the innovative Chinese have improved, innovated and offer a superior better service/product to it's and the world's consumers. Is that any different from other countries kidnapping knowledgeable personnel, studies, machinery, prototypes etc., to create their "Home Made" space, robotics, pharma ............. industries?

There are similar examples of Chinese developed products, unfortunately unless it's the no.1 site, when you do a gargle search, it's a fake. If you want a fake, China will happily take your order and produce a million or two for you to sell to those that want a "great deal".

They can also create world class products, if your "open and inclusive" government will allow you to buy them. Is it because they are afraid of word getting out, is it because the existing product producers have the politicians in their pockets or is it more probable the POTUE can illegally sign an "executive" order to place illegal sanctions on anyone he wants too and the vassal states have either to be "with us or against us". Any that go against Ameristan soon learn the illegal financial,, physical and brutal acts the western governments can inflict upon them.

Open your eyes, get rid of the blinkers you have been ordered to wear.

Cambodia Blocks Asean Statement on South China Sea

Cambodia has blocked any reference to a U.N.-backed court’s ruling against Beijing’s claims to the South China Sea in an Asean statement and is pushing to remove a previously routine phrase expressing concern about the sea’s “militarization,” according to reports.

A spokesman for Cambodia’s government, which China last week promised more than half a billion dollars in aid, said it did not want to interfere in a foreign dispute over sovereignty, but an observer said Cambodia should simply “butt out” in that case.

The statement was meant to be issued on Sunday, ahead of a meeting in Laos today between Asean’s foreign ministers, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, but was scuppered by infighting, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.

Asean’s 10 member nations started drafting the statement on Wednesday, AFP said, with most members supporting a call for all countries to “respect [the] diplomatic and legal process” after the Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled against Beijing’s territorial claims in the South China Sea on July 12.

A Reuters report on Saturday, however, said the regional bloc had been “thrown into disarray” after Cambodia vetoed any such calls—before also pushing to remove a standard phrase included in past statements expressing concern over military activity in the sea.

“Cambodia is unbelievable,” Reuters quoted an anonymous diplomat as saying. “It is blocking any phrase about the arbitration and about militarization.”

Innovation means coming up with new ideas. Copying existing ideas and trying to do it cheaply, which is what the chinks are famous for, is not innovation you utter cock-muppet.

Your unbridled cock-muppetry on this thread demonstrates that would claim that black was white if you thought it served the interests of the sneaky chinese coonts. When did your brain and reality decide to part company so completely?

He's retarded. Read that article about the satellite system? 'they' say, for one thing, the program began in 1994. That's a joke.
He's forgetting the most important thing to keep in mind when dealing with the Chinese. If their lips are moving they're lying.
As for citing the article about the railway network in China, so what.
They stole the technology off Siemens years ago and they're still using the same technology.
I'll admit it's a great rail network but only because they're plowing so much money into it, nothing innovative or particularly outstanding quality wise.
Here's a thought, if china make such high quality products why do those Chinese who can afford it buy foreign brands rather than Chinese brand cars? Or in fact anything.
