    Woman 'beheaded' in Edmonton garden

A woman is thought to have been beheaded in the garden of a north London house.

The victim was found at an address in Nightingale Road, Edmonton, at about 13:00 BST, police said.

Officers discovered her collapsed in a garden area and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody. Detectives said there is no suggestion the killing had a terrorist motive.

A Taser was used during the arrest of the man and a firearms officer is believed to have suffered a broken wrist.

    'Visible attack'
Police said the woman's next of kin had not been informed so they were unwilling to speculate on the nature of the woman's injuries or the type of weapon used.

    Police on Nightingale Road, Edmonton,
Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the killing
Det Ch Insp John Sandlin said: "This is was a highly visible attack in broad daylight on a residential street.

"I can understand why this may cause people concern, however we are confident that we are not looking for anyone else at this stage.

"Whilst it is too early to speculate on what the motive behind this attack was I am confident, based on the information currently available to me, that it is not terrorist related.

"Specially trained family liaison officers will be deployed to support the family."

He added officers and specialist detectives would be on the scene for many hours to come.

London Ambulance Service said they sent a number of resources to the scene including London's Air Ambulance, an ambulance crew and a duty manager.

The BBC's Home Affairs Correspondent Danny Shaw said it is unknown at this stage whether the victim and the suspect were known to each other.

The case is being investigated by Scotland Yard's Homicide Command.

Pretty irresponsible of the press to say she was beheaded.

The police haven't released that info yet and it will conjure certain images of the type of attack it is.

The first article I saw stated that it was a beheading and terrorism was not being ruled out.

That one came up just before I posted the original so went with it.

Must have been pretty brutal to suggest it in the first place.

I'd say that if you see the headline "woman beheaded in london" it's going to make people jump to that conclusion.

    Wouldn't you say so HB?

just looking at it on the daily mail website - just as rubbish as the bbc -
no description of the guy given.

good guess it wasn't an indigenous person
Casmir Afugbuom, 37, said: 'I can't believe something like this has happened. It is not an area like this. I have lived here 20 years everyone here is mainly Nigerian, Turkish or Polish. Whoever did this is obviously. I heard they used a machete.'

That's half the problem- the politicalisation of the police, and them taking on powers beyond their remit.

it should be just their task to arrest possible lawbreakers and leave motives etc to others.

^Well obviously if they haven't released the information, it would be a wild stab in the dark (no pun intended) to assume a reported murder is a beheading.

    Perhaps.

Has it been confirmed as a beheading at this point?

If they will go that far to get a story, would that mean that they were more reliable, rather than less reliable?

Witnesses have been describing what happened after police arrived at the scene of a beheading in North London.

They were called to Nightingale Road in Edmonton following reports a woman had been murdered in her back garden and arrested a 25-year-old man.

Ricardo Kwiek, who works for a local taxi firm, told Sky News around 40 police vehicles suddenly pulled up and officers went to a nearby house.

"We saw a lot of police vans coming in and go to the door," he said.

"When they got to the door they didn't want to let them in, so they broke the door down.

"A man came out and they got him, but he wasn't letting go and started fighting.

"They got him down and took him to the police van."

Mr Kwiek said he was not close enough to see what the man looked like.

He went on: "We were shocked to see so many police arrive in one second. That was very weird for us.

"There was around 40 police cars that came in and blocked the road.

"I think they handled it pretty good because straight away they closed off everything and told the local people to come out of their houses."

Local resident May Yapp, a retired clerical officer, said: "My husband was working in the garden and he called and said come and have a look.

"We saw a lot of policemen and a helicopter. They smashed a window. We were shocked."

Another resident, Muhammed Yusuf, said police knocked on the door and told him to leave immediately.

He said: "They just said 'You've got to get out of the house'. Of course I was worried."

His son Ahmed, 19, said: "At first there were two police cars, then all of a sudden there were 20.

"The police said to drop everything. I said 'What's going on?' and they said there's a guy jumping over gardens."

Untrustworthy in the lengths that they will go to get the true story , which makes what they report to be reliable,

Its good to see the officers were confident enough to confirm infact the beheaded body was infact dead at the scene .

Knowing that shithole Edmonton as well as I do , I would not rule out any of the Tennants extra Turkish community who live there on benefits at our expense.

All day long I have had to listen to BBC reports that a British white Male is about to be beheaded by a Black London accent Brit in ISIS Land.
But no it happened in N. London, a Brit decapitated another true Brit.
Intelligence services, I give up on their information, they got it wrong.
To add insult to injury, the BBC never once mentioned this news story, I had to see it first on breaking news T.D
