Anyway...

I'm actually surprised that the weapon in question hasn't been discussed more by the press or pundits.
It's not a particularly powerful gun, even on full auto.
It only shoots 9mm pistol ammo.
There are a dearth of other 9mm smgs that a child could shoot quite safely, or an instructor could help control if it got out of hand..

This particular gun in the state it was in was just a disaster waiting to happen.
Recoils high and left and machine pistols tend to do, but she was using it without a stock making it harder to control. He can't stand to the right as he would get a face full of hot brass, so stands to the left where he has almost no option of controlling it.
No barrel to grab and the slide is on top so he can't use his hand to steady it for her.
If she had been given an mp5, no problems at all.

She's NINE FFS. She should have been playing with an MP3 not an MP5.
