On a serious note, he hasn't done well in the trial to date, he'd best pull his socks up if he wants to sidestep hard time.

Every time I see him on TV, I say to myself "there's a man that has no sole".

He'd be stamping his foot in frustration at you mean guys !

I'm sure he will concentrate completely on his rehabilitation, doing what ever is asked of him, putting his best foot forward.

I hope he's soon dragged kicking and screaming to prison. Well at least screaming, then.

He's just going to have to learn about prison life from the beginning and start with baby steps. I'm sure he will hit his stride at some point.

If an appeal by either side he can apply for bail. If no appeal he stays put.
Appeal a double edge sword. Thing could be worse for either side.
If prosecution appeals surely they will dump the "bulldog". What a loser.

Pretoria Central Prison, well a former prisoner who served a sentence there for murder, wrote a book about his time inside.

Think not. From what I saw on TV interviews, both families are "satisfied" with the sentence.

Oscar will be held in his own room in the hospital wing. Little chance of being probed there. Heard it is common for those who can afford it to granted permission to go to a private medical facility for treatment. Oscar may spend a good part of what could be a 10 month sentence outside prison walls. An appeal would really be dumb.

Prosecution has 14 days to file for appeal. Doubt they will especially since Riva's family stated they were satisfied with the sentence and relieved to have the long drawn out process concluded. I'm unclear what they would or can appeal. The sentence or perhaps not guilty verdict on the murder charge.

Likely the "trial of the century" will simply fade away with the press jumping in again when Oscar is up for release in 10 months.

^Interesting. Strange laws - sentenced to 5 years, which was light to begin with, and then out in less than a year. For murder?
