I imagined the trail had ended weeks ago, with a guilty verdict, and the judge had used the time since to decide the sentence and was just going to read it out today, but No.

Now instead we have having more evidence, speeches, reports about Oscar pisstorius ?

So when it's all been given, is the judge going to take several more weaks to decide a sentence , or just weigh it up in 5 mins later today ?

They are really milking this - keeping their mugs in the media for a few more hours.

Just chuck stumpy in jail for 10 years for an arse raping for killing a good looking bird. Job done.

I though his defence was excellent.

He thought there might be an intruder in the bathroom so he decided to fire a few shots through the door. He could have knocked on the door and asked "who's in there".... he could have called out to Reeva....where are you, are you OK? He could have warned the "intruder" that he was armed and about to fire through the door.....but he's an "elite athlete" and a local "celebrity" so he figured he could do whatever he liked.

He likes shooting guns. He got pissed off and shot up a road sign or two....he fired his gun in a restaurant because he was pissed off.....he's an elite athlete. He can do whatever he likes...

His former GF said she was shit scared of him, because he's such a control freak and goes ballistic if anyone refuses to give him what he wants. Exactly the right kind of guy to have a loaded gun handy.

Every reasonable person knows the best way to identify the person in the bathroom with the door locked is to fire 3 or 4 shots through the door.....that always gets results.

The cardinal rule for anyone who owns a gun is to never fire at a target you can't identify.

I understand the fear that some dangerous intruder could possibly be in the bathroom, but firing four shots through the door without knowing who was in there goes way beyond negligent; especially when there is someone else in the house. who is quite likely to be the person in the bathroom. This guy has been shown to be very cavalier in the use of firearms.

He lied and bullshitted through the entire process and he needs to be sent away for second degree murder (or whatever the SA version is called.)

Pistorius's manager Peet van Zyl will resume his testimony at 1pm.

To recap, the defence is calling for three years' 'correctional supervision' comprising:
• House arrest
• 16 hours community service per month - cleaning
• Allowed to do athletic training
• Rehabilitation programmes on negative emotions and guns

13.14 Court adjourned for the day
Court has been adjourned for the day at the request of the state, in order for prosecutor Gerrie Nel to study documents submitted by Peet van Zyl, Pistorius's former agent. Van Zyl, a witness for the defence, submitted a lengthy report on the athlete's charity work this morning which the prosecution had not had sufficient time to study.
Court will resume tomorrow morning, with just one of four defence witnesses left to give evidence.

Trial enters seventh month
As Chris Spillane. Bloomberg's South Africa correpsondent points out, the trial has now well exceeded the three weeks it was initially scheduled for.

Just read an article that said the "sentencing phase" of the trial will take most of the week.

Wonder if the sentencing part would last a week if he was a black dude from the ghetto or if the victim had been a black girl?

WTF has his medals and charity work got to do with anything? He shot her, time for an arse raping in prison for 10 years stumpy.

Sentencing in SA can be surprising.
A few years a go a Bulls rugby player beat a cop to death with his bare hands in a traffic stop and got off with 9 mths good behaviour.
