Protestors In Ukraine Fight A Crackdown

Protestors In Ukraine Fight A Crackdown - Business Insider

The anti-government protests in Ukraine are at their most violent point. At least 18 people, including seven policemen, have died so far Tuesday. Hundreds more have been injured.

One of the injured was Oleksandr Turchynov, one of the opposition leaders, who was hit by shrapnel but says "he's okay."

The police tried to storm Independence Square, aka Maidan, where activists have been camping out and protesting en masse since early December. Opposition leader Vitaly Klitschko remained defiant, telling supporters, "we will not leave here. This is an island of freedom. We will defend it," according to Reuters.

The Russian-backed forces loyal to Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych were met with barrages of Molotov cocktails. Part of the encampment was engulfed in flames.

Previously, police had gathered around the square and clashed with protesters, but this time seemed to be a more assertive effort. Earlier police asked women and children to leave Maidan so they can begin an "anti-terrorist operation."
Basically, things could get ugly tonight.

US and EU Are Paying Ukrainian Rioters and Protesters — Paul Craig Roberts

A number of confirmations have come in from readers that Washington is fueling the violent protests in Ukraine with our taxpayer dollars. Washington has no money for food stamps or to prevent home foreclosures, but it has plenty of money with which to subvert Ukraine.

One reader wrote: “My wife, who is of Ukrainian nationality, has weekly contact to her parents and friends in Zhytomyr [NW Ukraine]. According to them, most protesters get an average payment of 200-300 grivna, corresponding to about 15-25 euro. As I additionally heard, one of the most active agencies and ‘payment outlets’ on EU side is the German ‘Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’, being closely connected to the CDU, i.e. Mrs. Merkel’s party.”

Johannes Loew of the Internet site elynitthria.net/ writes: “I am just back from Ukraine (I live in Munich/Germany) and I was a lot at the Maidan. Most of those people get only 100 grivna. 300 is for Students.”

As I reported on February 12, “Washington Orchestrated Protests Are Destabilizing Ukraine,” Washington Orchestrated Protests Are Destabilizing Ukraine - PaulCraigRoberts.org Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, a rabid Russophobe and neoconservative warmonger, told the National Press Club last December that the US has “invested” $5 billion in organizing a network to achieve US goals in Ukraine in order to give “Ukraine the future it deserves.” Victoria Nuland Admits: US Has Invested $5 Billion In The Development of Ukrainian, "Democratic Institutions" Nuland is the Obama regime official who was caught red-handed naming the members of the Ukrainian government Washington intends to impose on the Ukrainian people once the paid protesters have unseated the current elected and independent government.

Basically, most Ukrainians do not support the protests- but that is a bit bilateral. Surprise surprise, western Ukraine is more western/ EU/ Nato inclined, east Ukraine the opposite. We should keep our big noses out- Russia is pretty much the EU's monopoly energy supplier now, and what is there to gain by getting involved in this. shit happens. Frankly, why would you want Ukraine as part of the EU anyway? Buy Soviet enmity, and get poorer at the same time.

Defiant Ukrainian protesters seized control of the capital's central post office on Wednesday, hurling fire bombs and rocks and standing their ground against officers in riot gear who threw stun grenades and fired water cannon a day after clashes that left at least 25 people dead and raised fears of civil war.
The demonstrators forced their way into into the post office in Independence Square, also known as the Maidan, after a nearby building they had previously occupied was burned down in the previous day's clashes. Against the official onslaught, thousands of activists armed with fire bombs and rocks defended the square which has been a bastion and symbol for the demonstrators.
During the night, the square was encircled by a wall of fire from burning tires. Smoke was still rising from the rose above the center of the Ukrainian capital on Wednesday afternoon.
British Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Wednesday the Ukrainian government must be held accountable for violence security forces had used during protests and the EU, along with the U.S, is considering sanctions.

Watching video on the news services now. Shows Butters mates firing on the Eu/US paid mercenaries and these highly paid trouble makers falling down pretending to be shot.

Claims are that around a 100 dead. Unless the EU is paying more for people to bleed and pretend to be dead.
