Australians are racist says boat race disruption fellow

I'm not sure whether this will upset the British or the Australians more, but this guy has probably now alienated both by highlighting how toothless the British system is whilst at the same time calling the Aussies 'passive aggressive racists'.

Boat Race saboteur 'can stay in UK'
    Last updated 9 hours ago

Trenton Oldfield interrupted the Boat Race in April last year
An Australian who disrupted last year's University Boat Race by swimming in front of the crews can remain in the UK, a judge has ruled.

Following a six-month jail term for causing a public nuisance, the Home Office told Trenton Oldfield, 37, his presence was "undesirable".

He appealed against the deportation claiming his wife, who is of Indian descent, would be at risk in Australia.

An immigration tribunal judge said he intended to allow him to remain.

Mr Oldfield interrupted the 158th Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge in April last year. The race was eventually won by Cambridge.

He said his actions were a protest against elitism and inequality.

    'Passive aggressive' racists
He was jailed in October last year, and served seven weeks before being released on electronic tag. In June, Mr Oldfield was told he must leave the UK.

But he told an Asylum and Immigration Tribunal in Islington that if he was forced to leave the UK he could not take his wife, Deepa Naik, or his daughter back with him because Australians were "passive aggressive" racists.

"Australia to Deepa... is a particularly racist country," he said.

"There are particularly racist attacks on people of Indian descent... I don't think I could put either Deepa or my child through that."

He told the court he could not bear to be parted from his wife.

Mr Oldfield also expressed regret about some aspects of his protest, and said he would not do it again.

However, he rejected the Home Office ruling that his presence in the UK was "undesirable" and said when he arrived in London 10 years ago, he believed "there was room for people like me... who were interested in justice, interested in fairness".

    'Old ideal'
The court was also handed a petition with signatures from 265 Cambridge and Oxford staff and students who did not want Mr Oldfield to be deported.

Representing Mr Oldfield, Stephanie Harrison QC said her client's good work in the community outweighed the one protest incident.

Judge Kevin Moore, presiding over the tribunal, said: "It would be my intention to allow the appeal."

Mr Oldfield said he was "delighted to be able to get back to my work and spend time with my family", but said public interest in the incident should highlight other deportation cases.

"Deportation is an old ideal and it's from another time - 1,000 years ago," he added.

The decision to allow Mr Oldfield to remain in the UK is expected to become official in about 10 days' time.

Anything with the word Racist in is wearing a bit thin these days. The word is being over used.

"Deportation is an old ideal and it's from another time - 1,000 years ago," he added.
Now he is taking the piss. Send him home!

THE boat race is certainly dear to you, but is the punishment of the guy not a little harsh? He's an oddball alright, but six months in jail and deportation for this harmless minor offence and some inane twaddle? The man who slapped former chancellor Schroeder in the face about ten years ago got a couple of months probation and community service.

It isn't just wearing thin it must surely be the most abused word and meaning in the world today. Like millions of others fighting deportation in the UK the taxpayer funded lawyers will play the courts with every excuse they can.
The outright tosser disrupted a national event and deserves everything he gets. Throw the sad sorry wanker out and blacklist him.
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

He is a criminal, he should be sent to Australia with the other criminals. If that adversely affects his private life, then he should have thought that through before commiting the crime...

    Absurd. Send him to gaol.

That's such a load of bollocks. When I was in a taxi in Sydney last year, the Bangladeshi driver asked me to type the destination as he was new. He'd only been in the country two weeks and they'd already given him a job.

Does that sound racist to you?

Yes but all the law makers and some of the enforcers are either Oxford or Cambridge graduates

those funny Australians . . . a Christmas satire on the asylum-seeker issue. Hilarious.

An Erskineville couple whose immigration-themed Christmas display lit up social media say they are just trying to win the local decoration contest.

Carolyn and Robert Woodhead said that they are not an especially political couple but when the idea came to them to invoke Christmas Island in their front yard, they couldn't resist the opportunity to use Santa to satirise the asylum-seeker issue.

Placards framed by fairy lights declare "Merry Christmas Island" and "We will decide who comes down our chimney and the circumstances in which they come".

Other phrases dotted in the garden include "We grew here, you flew here" and "If you come here by sled without a visa you will not be settled in Australia".

The couple have also arranged strings of Christmas lights surrounding the yard to look like barbed-wire fencing.

When the r-word is lobbed it has to be rigorously defended, because it frightens the crap out of people.

In a society that's been castrated and dumbed down by the Left it's much safer to be a pedophile or a serial killer.
