As a kid, we used to go for holidays at Pontins.
usually in Devon.
my dad didn't do abroad except for one trip to Majorca that he hated.
me and my brother at a very young age were left in our chalet alone.
The camps had a checking system.
i don't know, someone would come around and check the kids every 30 minutes or so.
In no way do I consider my parents relacticant in their duties.
Having said that, I suspect that based on the gossip so far, they are guilty.
Not true. The children were last checked by one of the other doctors in their party.Originally Posted by Dr Zaius

Yes, but he did say he didn't actually go into the room the children were in, which I found a little strange given he said he would check on them.
Also, I understand one of the reasons why they think they gave the children sedatives is because neither of the twins woke-up during the period when all hell had broken loose and half the world was going through the house. Nor, apparently, had they woken up during Mrs. McCanns screaming fit when she first realized their daughter was missing. Both parents put this down to the fact that the children are 'heavy' sleepers, and looking at yesterday's news report/speech I can kind of see that (the little boy just slept through the whole thing yesterday), but I still find it kind of strange - in a primal sort of way - that they would not have reacted to their mother's scream.
Is it normal these days to give babies sleeping tablets?
Why do you think I protest too much?Originally Posted by NathairCeann

Most certainly not, but that was suggested. They didn't say they had given them sleeping pills.Originally Posted by dirtydog

But you have only posted what other people have said to newspapers.Originally Posted by NathairCeann

Replace "Portuguese Police" with "Thai Police"....no wonder they are clutching at straws at this late date.
Remember, the Portuguese coppers were treading all over the crime scene like a herd of buffalo at the beginning.....
Listen Lady , I will type this reeeally slowly so you can understand it.
I posted what one neighbour gave in a statement to police. Are you suggesting she lied ?
I posted the reaction of English authorities to the evidence they had gathered.
At no point did I attack you. You really should grow a thicker skin before posting on this forum.
I did call you out on your 'rumour and gossip' accusation.
Now hear this - I have not posted one word of opinion on whether or not the child was abducted so can we have a retraction of the 'mind seems quite closed' crap.
I have criticised this pair as parents , and clearly stated the reasons why.
Change Topic title to
NATHAIR: Did HE DO IT?
^ No he did not ! It was two big boys and they ran off !
Did they check under the bed? Maybe Maddy's playing hide-n-seek.
Two docs playing willy-nilly with their children's lives? Sounds fishy.
I just find it strange that after all these months they suddenly have to fly home after becoming suspects. I also love the way CNN had to put subtitles on when they spoke to the scottish side of the family....
Thank goodness they did. Has anyone noticed that when CNN feels the need to clarify poorly pronounced English they use subtitles but when they show a clip of a non-English speaker they use a spoken translation?Originally Posted by patsycat
I've seen it done for Ozzy Ozbourne - the subtitle bit.
They were supposed to go back, they did not change the plan.
And obviously the Portuguese police did not try to stop them, maybe a bit embarrassed not to be anywhere after 4 months.
As for the Scottish accent, did you ever talk to Scampy? And he is still wondering why Thai people do not understand him...

Discussion is an exchange of knowledge, argument is an exchange of ignorance
^ Funny you should say that.
French TV stations used to do something remarkably similar. Subtitles were not really necessary (except with Canadians). What used to annoy me was hearing three words of English and then the 'interpreter' would cut in. Seeing dubbed versions of movies I'd already seen in English always made me wary of how accurate the translation was.
If the kidnapper is reading this Teakdoor topic, will they PLEASE bring back Maddy.
.....sorry I just got carried away by reading all the histrionic twaddle written by hysterical females on assorted forums for UK newspapers, Sky News etc.
If the kid had a face like a butcher's dog, none of Fleet Street would have the slightest interest in her.
Breaking news on TV just now. Portuguese police will have the DA charge her with the death, probably manslaughter and concealment.
A police file of evidence which allegedly proves that Kate McCann killed her daughter is expected to be handed to a public prosecutor in Portugal today.
Detectives believe they have now collected enough evidence for Mrs McCann to be charged with the homicide of Madeleine by failing to prevent her death. The charge is equivalent to manslaughter in British law. She would also face a charge of concealing a Madeleine’s body.
Officers were furious when a plan for Mrs McCann to be charged on Thursday last week was halted after her lawyer met with the Portugal’s Attorney General, it was claimed today.
A new file of evidence includes lengthy interviews with both Mrs McCann and her husband, Gerry, after they were made official suspects last week. It also includes details of forensic evidence collected in the McCann’s apartment and hire car and the results of surveillance by Portuguese and British police.

Turns out they are also going to fight extadition if they are told to go back to Portugal.

Guilty as charged...if they found DNA evidence that supports foul play then there would also be evidence that would either exclude the parents or include them as suspects.
If her disapearance had been treated as a homicide from day 1 , the parents would be banged up by now.
Oh the foreign office of the UK and the state dept of Portugal are going to have a few hard days
