A high-flying businesswoman's shocking claims have been reported to Scotland Yard’s Operation Yewtree detectives


A high-flying businesswoman has told the Sunday People how her life was ruined [at]after a British singing [at]superstar had sex with her when she was just 14.

The woman’s shocking claims have been reported to Scotland Yard’s Operation Yewtree, the task force that uncovered the horrific sexual abuse by BBC star Jimmy Savile.

The team has now asked police in South Africa, where the alleged assault took place while the star was on tour, to investigate.

In an exclusive interview, the woman revealed how the internationally famous singer got her drunk with champagne and then took her virginity in his hotel room when she was 14.

At the time she was a star-struck schoolgirl who had been brought up in a strict Jewish family and knew nothing about sex.

She said: “He kissed me and kissed me, topping up my champagne and undressing me on the bed, saying I was [at]beautiful and special.

“He kept telling me to relax, saying it wouldn’t hurt so much if I relaxed. He knew that I was under-age, inexperienced, and now totally in his power.

“I was completely inebriated and I was intoxicated by his voice. I surrendered. He penetrated me again.

“I believed he must be in love with me. I felt like Cinderella with my own Prince Charming.”

The incident has haunted her ever since, leaving her still obsessed with the singer after more than 35 years and wrecking any chance of a normal relationship with other men.

And she wants today’s parents and pop-star fans to be aware that they could be scarred for life like her if they throw themselves at their idols.

“It always seemed I was the chosen one and that has had a profound effect on my life,” she says.

It was in the 1970s that she discovered the [at]glamorous rock star was touring in Cape Town where she lived. He stayed at a suite in the President Hotel near her home and she decided with schoolfriends to see if they could get his autograph.

They were spotted by the singer giggling in the lobby and he told his bodyguard to give them free tickets to the show the next day.

They had seats near the stage and were mesmerised by the performance.

Next morning the girls, all from strict Jewish families, went to their usual Sunday youth club meeting where part of a team-building game that day was to “find a star”.

The 14-year-old decided to go back to the singer’s hotel in a fresh attempt to get his autograph. She and a schoolfriend boldly asked for him at the reception desk and were told to wait. The singer’s bodyguard picked her to go upstairs with him to a sixth-floor suite.

Her friend was told to wait in the lobby.

“I was completely star-struck,” the woman recalls. “I was an innocent girl who had never even been kissed by a boy. I knew nothing about sex. All I knew was I had been chosen to have a private meeting and, if I was lucky, pose for a photo and get his autograph.”

Nervous and excited, she found herself in a roomful of celebrities. A famous beauty queen was sitting on a sofa with some glamorous black American girl singers, along with members of the management team and bodyguards.

The woman says: “He walked in wearing a white hotel bathrobe. It was exciting just to be in his presence, this famous person.”

She dared to ask for a photo with him and they posed on the balcony, her in a then-trendy blue boiler-suit and him in his bathrobe.

The woman recalls: “The photo was taken five minutes before my life changed forever. It shows my last moments as a child.”

The star then went back inside, leaving her to talk nervously to the others.

She was told by one of his management team that he “would like to see you in there” – the bedroom. The man summoned her into the room with a casual sign, like a hitchhiker’s thumb jerked over his shoulder.

“I had no clue why he would want to see me”, she says. “He was standing at the foot of the bed where it was strange that he seemed smaller than his stage presence, especially without the jewellery, the glitz and the glamour, just this guy in a dressing gown.

“But then he spoke to me and his voice took me back to the previous night’s performance. It went right through me. I felt like melting.

“He offered me a drink and I said no but he went out and came back with a bottle of French champagne.

“He poured out two glasses and we clinked them as we drank. I remember never tasting anything so utterly disgusting in my life.

“It looked cool and bubbly like a fizzy drink but it was awful, it tasted bitter. The alcohol went straight to my head.” She says she was taken by surprise when the star started to kiss her.

“I felt weak at the knees. He kissed me and kissed me and kissed me. Then he topped up my glass and kissed me some more. Between the drinking and kissing he kept telling me how lovely I was, how he wanted me, how special I was and what beautiful eyes I had.”

The woman described the star undressing her and slipping off his robe. She says: “It was all a new experience and gave me strange sensations, until I felt something hard trying to penetrate me.

“I started to stiffen up and panic as now it didn’t feel so nice any more – it hurt. Also I wasn’t quite sure what was happening and was becoming confused”.

After seeing blood on the sheets she began to panic, thinking maybe HE was hurt. But she was still mesmerised. “I had just been with this megastar who told me he [at]wanted me.”

She got dressed and left through the now-empty lounge.

At home that night her mother asked about a huge love-bite on her neck and bruising on her legs, and she made an excuse about being hit by a tennis ball. “I felt my mother knew what had happened, but she didn’t want to know,” she says.

“My father was very strict and it would have been impossible to tell either of them”. She told no one except schoolfriends until years later. By then she was dating older men on the fringe of showbusiness or celebrity.

She says all she wanted after her encounter with the star was to be [at]famous.

Her unrealistic longings drove her to climb the corporate ladder but ruined her marriage which lasted less than two years.

Today she prefers the company of gay friends. Now a successful businesswoman who also runs charity fund-raising events, she lives alone.

“I’ve seen psychiatrists and psychologists and I just can’t seem to get closure.” she says. “I would just like him to acknowledge that he deliberately manipulated me and seduced me at the age of 14, and that it was wrong.”

A few years ago the same star, now a veteran but still headlining all over the world, returned to Cape Town to perform.

The woman says: “I bought tickets and went with my lawyer, intending to request a meeting in his dressing-room after the performance and confront him.

“But his singing swept me away and I ended up in floods of tears. My lawyer refused to let me go to him. A letter was sent to his hotel to which there was no response.”

The woman added: “Men like him, who deliberately choose under-age girls to satisfy a longing for young flesh, need to know that what they are doing is actually worse than rape by a stranger.

“Violent sex results in anger and disgust, but this predatory and premeditated sweet-seduction technique is more damaging. I would really like to look him in the eye and tell him that.”

Last week officers from Operation Yewtree told her they had referred the case to the South African authorities to investigate “due to the offence being committed there and not falling within the remit of the Metropolitan Police Service”.
