    Crutches at Dawn!

Man dies after Biggleswade Asda parking fight
BBC News - Man dies after Biggleswade Asda parking fight

A 64-year-old man has died after a fight over parking at an Asda store.

He got into an argument with another man in the supermarket's disabled parking area in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, at about 15:00 BST on Saturday, police said.

The man, from Sandy, was knocked to the ground and taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, with head injuries. He died on Sunday afternoon.

A 65-year-old man has been arrested.

Det Ch Insp Tim Redfearn said: "Both men were waiting in the disabled parking area and got into a disagreement about parking.

"We are now treating this man's death as manslaughter.

"I know the car park would have been very busy on a Saturday afternoon, so if you were there please contact the police in confidence."

I know it got a little warm in the UK on Saturday but a couple of disabled guys fighting over a parking space? What's going on nowadays?

When I first read this, I had visions of a couple of pensioners going head to head in motorised wheelchairs, using crutches as improvised lances.

Ended up being some pensioner punching another's lights out over a parking space. How utterly boring...sorry to have brought it up.

Detective Chief Inspector Tim Redfearn, who is leading the investigation, said: "The men were waiting in the disabled parking area at the time and got into a disagreement about parking. We know they became involved in a disagreement which resulted in one man punching the other knocking him to the ground.

"It would seem an argument over nothing has led to tragic and devastating consequences for both men and their families.

Sounds like a version of "Bumfights". It's great that OAP's are able to die with a bit of dignity and honour, bludgeoning each other to death in an ASDA car park.

Nothing more than pure selfishness and the general publics fascination with wanting to park as close to the door as possible.

Maybe one guy was parking without a disabled sticker so the other guy called him on it. Then the selfish arsehole gets all upset because he knows he is in the wrong but...

Or wife is disabled and usually does the shopping but guy parks there anyway etc....even though he knows he is perfectly healthy.

And we whine about Thais and losing face...

Its the A1 corridor, from my experience of places like Huntington, hitchen, stevenage is there's a lot of rather strange inbread types in that part of the world... rather like Norfolk and devon thinking about it.

What is it about cars bringing out the savage in people?
