Singapore Restaurant Reviews

Hello Unregistered,

33 Scotts Road, Tel: 6836-0055 Open: Noon to 3pm, 6 to 11pm

Don’t blink at the price, just order a whole tandoori chicken ($48) at Song Of India and you will be very glad you did.

Lots of love has been lavished on the bird after all. It is marinated in yogurt that the restaurant makes fresh, special spices imported from India, and luxurious saffron, the most expensive spice in the world.

Then, it is cooked in a tandoor that heats up to an impressive 350 deg C. The chicken emerges glistening, with delicious little charred bits on the corners that make for good nibbling. Best of all, the bird is also tender and juicy.

You can taste the heady spice mix in the chicken and the hint of ginger that gives it a subtle heat.

And because this is a fine-dining restaurant, the chicken is beautifully presented on a platter artfully decorated with swirls of vegetable puree.

Chef Milind Sovani has upped the ante so much on this dish, he makes it quite impossible to eat lesser versions now.
