Hello Unregistered,

Trust a Belgian to know his mussels.

This restaurant opened by chef Emmanual Stroobant serves some great Belgian dishes, but the mussels are proving the most popular.

It’s little wonder when they are so delicious.

The restaurant offers both New Zealand and Norwegian mussels. The former are bigger but the latter are sweeter and softer.

You can get them cooked in various ways, including a Thai tom yam version with lime leaves, lemongrass and galangal.

My favourite, however, is the classic Belgian style, described in the menu as the Brussels Sprouts special.

The shellfish is cooked in the pot with chopped-up celery, onion and parsley, with a pat of butter thrown in as well to oil the flavours.

You can order the mussels in either the starter size ($18 for 300g) or as a main course ($38 for 700g).
