It’s mushroom galore at this speciality restaurant from Taiwan.

There is no a la carte menu, but you do get a choice of three set menus, priced at $26.80, $36.80 and $46.80. The difference is in the types of mushrooms that you get to put into the steamboat. And what unusual mushrooms they are. Besides the more recognisable matsutake and long net stinkhorn varieties, there are others that one seldom sees here.

What is served depends on what arrives in each shipment from Taiwan. This is no vegetarian steamboat, though. The set comes with a selection of meats such as chicken, beef, pork or mutton, as well as leafy vegetables.

These provide variety and give the stock better flavour. But the star ingredients are still the mushrooms, each of which can have very different textures.

The set menus also come with starters and snacks made with mushrooms as well as a dessert.
