The Rama VI Bridge was the first bridge to be built across the Chao Phraya River and was officially opened in 1927.

Rama 6 Bridge connects the districts Bang Sue and Bang Phlat, it is also the longest railway bridge in Thailand at 441.44 metres long.

During the Second World War the bridge was damaged, it took 3 years to repair and was re-opened in 1953.

Rama VII Bridge is a dual carriage way with 3 lanes each way, it has a pedestrian walkway and is 933.19 meters long and was opened in 1992.
