Latest trip to Myanamar; Inle lake, Mrauk U, Sittwe

My trip from end of feb and early March. This is the first ( and LAST) time i will ever do mini bus's and long bus travel. I imagine the Triple first class Yangon- Bagan, Inle Lake- Yangon would be nice if u need ONLY to get from A to B . Compared to all my other means of travel this is the worst way to travel around, Give me a Train, boat or motorcycle any day.

First time i have also had food poisoning and it was not fun.

Once again flew into one of my favorite Burmese cites, and next day headed to Inle Lake. The mini bus driver told us 6 hours ( after spending an hour driving around Mandalay picking up others) but took us 8. Dropped us off at the edge of Nyaunhshwe. If your looking for a back packer scene in Burma, this is the city that offers it all, Happy hours and Banana pancakes.

The lake is very impressive but also VERY touristy. Firts tome i have been to a market that had items geared only for tourist. 2 days was plenty (one full day on the lake)

2 night bus's to Mrauk U with a day stop in Magwe, Lovely old temples so unlike Bagan, ast hese you can go inside and they are well preserved and unique to MraukU. After an afternoon visiting various temples/Pagodas awoke early the next day and spent a day on the Laymro river visiting a few Chin Villages.

Off early the next morning for a quick 2 1/2 hour fast boat to Sittwe, located on the Andaman sea. Great town and great seafood market. Next morning off by plane to Yangon

Just stay off local long distance bus's :-) Thought by eating in ,(what looked like a good restaurant) i was safe but..... no big deal, comes with traveling
when u want go somewhere NOT on the tourist route local bus's are the only option sometimes...
heading back in the summer again.Love Myanmar

It's disappointing to hear Inle Lake is touristy. My own interest in going is dampened.

Beautiful photos. Great website you have there.

I enjoyed my trip to Inle, stayed there for a few days before renting a mountain bike to cycle up to Taungyii, which was tougher than expected. As touristy as it is there is some great food to be had. Had a couple of decent lunches at One Owl Grill owned by a French chap. The winery served passable wine with a great view. A boat trip on the lake is a must-just stunning.
