    So that said,

If you are fit there is simply no reason why you could not do it so why not buy a ticket and do it. ?

Just over the road from Thailand. Around $ 700 return.
Yup, a quick 3 hr & 15 min flight from Bangkok.

Imagine there's still some Gonzo Die-Hard types who will still head up there once the airport reopens.

I suppose Terry can add this one to his long list of possibilities of travel hazards one might encounter, but not be adequately prepared for... Insurance! What insurance? No helicopters to be found in Nepal according to reports on BBC...so much for that million dollar insurance policy...13 dead on Mt. Everest site...

There are normally 6 or 8 big old Russian helicopters there. Destroyed in the quake?

    yes terry can add

earthquakes and total destruction an no food , supplies

There are many Helicopters used for rescue operations on the mtns. and the support for the expeditions.

I just wonder if the road between Ktm and Pokhara was ruined as thats the ONLY road.
I have a few friends up there in KTm and one in Pokhara
Did hear that only 2 died in Pokhara and not much damage
but Baktapur and Patan were hit hard as well.

^^Evidently all chopper's in use and not adequate to support the needs...requests in for additional air support from outside.

Well there is quite a difference between not being physically prepared for a trek in the Mountains of Nepal and dying in an Earth Quake in Kathmandu.

Same as the Tsunami in Thailand so just keep things on track huh.

You could always hook up with one of the many relief/aid agencies that are swooping down on the place today - your cost might be deferred...or not.

Help out the unfortunates and do a little side holiday, as it's still in tact.

7.3 magnitude quake centered in Namche Bazaar hit about 2 hours ago. Namche is 2 days into the EBC trek which I finished on 13 April (about 10 days before the Kathmandu quake). Spent about 4 days in Kathmandu and 4 more in Namche.

Great set of pics....When the shakin' is done and the dust clears it will be interesting to see how such a poor country goes about rebuilding. My heart certainly goes out to em there.
