Well yesterday I was in Manchester and I'd had a couple of pints, [as you do], at one of my favourite watering holes. This is the Boggart Hole Clough Brewery 'Micro Bar' in the Arndale Centre, Manchester. The brewery makes a delectable Rum Porter, 4.6% ABV, and that is why I drink here.
I think I had more than a couple but it gets really quite hard to remember with this porter stuff. A remarkable drink at only GBP 2.70 per pint. Anyway, to cut a long story short I left and took a short cut through Aldi to come out onto Market Street. To those not familiar with Manchester, Market Street is one of the main shopping drags with usually quite a lot going on.
And then I saw this:
I thought, "bloody hell that porter's strong - that can't be right, that bloke should have fallen over by now". My curiosity peaked I fumbled around and found my mobile, which is one of those all dancing things, but also includes a camera. Now please bear in mind I am at this stage a somewhat 'mellow' and none too sure if I'm seeing things never mind working out how to use the camera.
So I took the above picture and then another one.
As you can see there is quite a crowd gathering around. They are, I'm sure, as perplexed as I am about how this is being done.
A couple more pictures:
"What's this guy on - Lao Kao?"
Getting a good photo of this guy was quite tricky as people were passing in front of my camera - not to be shy, and fueled by the beer, I pushed my way forward to get a close up and final photo:
I don't know if the photos actually show just how weird this looks - it seems as though the guy is defying the laws of physics. If anybody knows how this is done I'd be glad to know.
And with that I left Market Street and made my way to China Town for a bite to eat.
