Might wanna brush up on some details. It was George Cornell.

...and it's Harrods, unless you're going to the posh kids' school.

Joe, you can easily see Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and Nelson's Column in one morning's stroll. Also, take in the Palace of Westminster, Whitehall and The Mall enroute to the palace from the Houses of Parliament.

I can recommend the open top bus tours that started from the south end of Westminster Bridge (if you don't get killed by the b@stard cyclists first, while waiting). I think they were called Toots Tours (no relation, to my knowledge).

From my few days in London last year, I wish that I'd spent a half day visiting the Tower of London (we only saw it from the bus) and also I wouldn't bother with the Science Museum again... it was so packed that there was no enjoyment.

If you enjoy train spotting, I can highly recommend the Travelodge at the south end of Vauxhall Bridge. You can get rooms so close to Vauxhall Station that you can feel the vibrations through the bed and you'd be able to smell the exhaust fumes if only the rooms had opening windows!

Good luck Joe and co. I would probably not enjoy the capital at the height of school holidays, competing with tourists and urchins of various shapes, size and motivations!

How about Brick Lane for a curry? Lots of Bangladeshi places to choose from. Being moslem, some don't sell alcohol, so check first.

    Also famous for its graffiti.

Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral are high on my list of historic buildings after the Tower of London. Too much for 3 days.

I have only ever seen grey squirrels in Hyde Park. For me, London's parks are great if you live or work in London. I wouldn't go there as a tourist, too much else to do.

British Museum is a must do; and what mendy said even with kids.

if its a weekend speakers corner in Hyde Park is fantastic.

then its summerhouse to score some crack, simpsons on the strand, and a selfie at nelson Mandela towers

    Fantastic trip!
    Quality over quantity.
    Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've got about a hundred pics to put up but it looks highly unlikely with the forum speed.

I must say out of all the Cities I've visited around the globe, London has to be the best for architecture, history and convenient transport links.

    Day one.

It was pissing down all day as we made our way down from oop North, this didn't bode well for a few days sightseeing around the capital of the world.

As we hit the M25 the weather brightened up with clear blue sky's and a pleasant 25oC.

Arriving at London Victoria we made our way on foot to Westminster to catch the River Thames Uber Clipper Westminster to Greenwich.

The first sight was the London fire brigade extinguishing a fire in a crack head encampment.

Passed and visited some well known building en-route to our boat ride.

Arrived at Westminster pier for our ride down the River Thames, £30 for the four of us and no sea sickness involved.
Time was getting on and we had a dinner reservation at the Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich at 7.30pm.

So how many iconic buildings have you guessed correctly thus far?

Big shout to Nammers for the boat ride info, Hal for the Trafalgar Tavern recommendation and Kitty for the inspiration to finish this thread.

The only people that travel in cars nowadays in London City are super wealthy .

Mostly it's electric taxis due to some recent law that's been introduced.
There must be loads of second hand cars for sale somewhere in Essex now.
