Here's a thought. You likely can't get abroad with the kids this year but you can almost. Why not take them across to Northern Ireland. Its a beautiful place, great countryside, good food, great pubs and its abroad and they can also learn another language - nope not Oiirish but the form of English they speak over there. It would be more of an adventure than just driving around mainland Britian.

Anyone else hate North Americans even more when they start doing that, or is it just me?
Loathe it. Will cancel any interviews with people who quote North American timezones in an Asian context.

You could have done this, had Brexit not happened.

^ could do that virtually now and make a representative meal in each capital, small history lesson, famous sights and Chi..Joe could teach them a few mangled phrases in the tongue of the country de jour etc

    EDIT

I cannot believe i said .... "make a representative meal in each capital", although Joes kids are probably immune by now

A beautiful part of the world.

If we drive East I fear we will stay in Wales for the duration.

Nothing wrong with that, just fancy somewhere different.

Some excellent ideas Sid! Green owed.

There will be plenty of time for that in a few years.

Excellent idea with the camping and tour of TD members gardens Nev! Think I recognised most of the members from their home town.

Oh, that's what he was on about.

I thought he was pissed off because I asked Backspin about the business on the forum at that hour of a west coast American morning.

Damned fool, not to mention latter day vampire. Read one of the guys posts and feel like you've been drained a quart of plasma.

^ IOW is OK and has some intersting stuff, but if you are going there why not Gurnsey or Jersey, slip on a trawler and enter France illegally and claim asylum, one month expenses paid and an adventure your kids will never forget, just don't tell them or the Mrs beforehand

Not quite what we had in mind, got a 10 grand budget for a 6 berth motor home.
Loads on line for sale at the moment, trouble is I'll have to chop down my record breaking privot hedge drive archway to park in on my property.

Fvck the archway, it's been growing for over a decade and has still failed to entwine in the middle.

About 6 inches short, story of my life

I went to Scarborough last summer and walked up to and around Whitby over a few days; it's a beautiful part of the country, but you're spoilt for choice pretty much wherever you go in the UK. You should definitely consider the east coast though.

The plan so far is to head east to Norfolk and work our way around the coast to London.
Then a South coast mission to the Isle of White, after that who knows...

If it's another hot Summer then its straight up to Scotland ...

The river/canal boat idea is good if the pubs are open.

I did the barge thing on the Scottish system with my dad when I was a young lad. Brilliant trip that I can still vividly remember.

    Early speculation indicates

    Portugal (excluding the Azores)
    Spain’s Canary Islands
    Rhodes
    Kos
    Zante
    Corfu
    Crete

Sick of the Canary Islands, done all the rest.

Although I wouldn't mind Crete again.

UK is still favourite at the moment . We've never even done London as a family .
