I wonder how this bloke would have coped running a Thai bookshop, they treat it like a library with kids sitting on the floor reading but never buying. They have to wrap the magzines up in plastic to stop the customers, mainly women, from standing there reading from cover to cover

George Goldman from Gecko Books, or the Irish fellow from the competition?

From what I know about ChIan Mai, there's about a half dozen second hand book shops selling books that most backpackers hotels swap for free.

Up until last week the only time I'd been to'The Lost Bookshop' in CM was over 20 years ago. It was a total dump. Dimly lit, with shelves groaning under the weight of mildewed, brown paged paperbacks by the likes of Jilly Cooper.

I happened to pass by it again last week...what a transformation! Sparklingly clean and with a terrific selection of books, many in pristine condition.

    Well worth a visit.

LOL. Yes you are spot on. I used to know one of them, he didn't have a good word to say about anyone or anything.
Hated everything about Thailand, the people, the food, the weather, everything.
He could literally suck the life out of a stone.
Possibly the most miserable person I have ever met.

That describes everyone of them. Bitter, depressing old men whose only highlight in their pathetic lives is going there every single morning for their fry up. God only knows how the place has lasted so long.

Yes indeed, and the way they speak and treat the Thai staff makes me wonder if they receive the' chefs special sauce'

I suppose that you and that bookshop have gone in opposite directions .
20 years ago, you were sparkling clean and well worth a visit . Now look at you : stained brown, groaning under weight and dimly lit

Well that's something coming from a physical wreck who has spent his recent years, if not longer, running from parental responsibility, shagging whores and pickling himself in alcohol, fluke.

Doubtless CJ could confirm what kind of physical specimen you are. An 'old before his time' Wilfred Brambell lookalike is the image that springs to mind.

Well the parts about being physically very unfit, a drunk and shagging whores, including when unconscious, have been posted by you.

    So are they 'Teakdoor lies'?

No, they werent , I posted about myself being tee-total, over 6 foot with a 38 inch waist and about 100 kilos (not too bad a shape) and I also stated that I do not associate with prostitutes, let alone to have sex with them although I did post that on one occasion I did have sex with a long term gf who was drunk .
I was just having a laugh with a word play on your post about a book shop , why do you have to get serious and begin posting nasty things ?
    Is joviality beyond you ?

You took the thread completely off-topic.

Don't dish it out if you can't cop a serve back at you.

By the way, 'word play' isn't just repeating someone else's words to describe something completely unrelated and saying 'that's you, that is'.

And obviously in my description of you I was not referring to your supposedly ''teetotal' recent times, but to your whoring, drunken fairly recent past.

I don't send reds very often either, and I certainly haven't sent you numerous reds.

Take a look at your messages sent pm box and you'll see that you were not replying to anything with that message, and neither was your message replied to by me.

Are you going to quit the thread as you said, because you supposedly have better things to do, or are you going to keep on lying?
