Nice variation on a thread Chitty.

Some lovely spots on The Fylde Coast.

Blackpool has had it's up and downs for a hundred years and more.

An amazing amount has been spent there over the last few years.

The Beach is now one of the cleanest in Europe.

    It doesn't work over-night.

They are putting a great deal into making it
    more attractive,

    I wish them well.

    All the way to Fleetwood.

    Then Pilling across the channel.

The new Sea Wall and Promenade.

Blackpool is going to be an attractive resort again.

    The Big One, going strong.

Some outstanding Victorian property at hand.

Mustn't forget The White Church in the distance either.
All the women take their blouses off
And the men all dance on the polka dots
    It's closing time !

    Cheers Mathos.

We bought a family tram ticket for £10 valid for two days all the way up to Fleetwood, might make full use of it next time.

Nice day out on the crazy golf etc, then the Red Arrows topped the day off nicely.

Used to go to Blackpool with a gang of mates. I've never been anywhere like it, admittedly not spent a lot of time in the North, but everyone had a Glaswegian accent, got pissed out their heads at lunch times in German Beer kellers and the only form of potato available was chipped and fried.

As a kid, I used to go for a week at a time in the summer with my gran and grandad; I absolutely loved the place. Who could spot the tower would start the moment we got past Preston while we could scoff fish and chips at the end of the day in the sea air with weather that was always much better than Manchester. I could amuse myself for days on end at the Pleasure Beach as well as doing some fishing off the piers. Great, innocent days.

Last time I was there was about 20 years ago and the bogs were 2 at a time with everybody doing charlie, people scrapping on the seafront and the old bill tearing up and down nicking people left right and centre.

    Something for everyone in Blacky.

Used to work at the Doric Hotel up on the North Shore. Had some good times there. My parents were thinking about buying a B&B there, didn't happen in the end. We did live in Fleetwood and Heysham Head for a while.

That would have been "Scottish Fortnight". Probably back in the 80's-90's.?

Remember it well. Outside of the Pleasure Beach used to be loads of Bier Kellers and strip clubs, and all-in wrestling shows and the like. Used to be like 'hopscotch' on the golden mile, jumping over puddles of vomit and screaming seagulls fighting over the lumpier morsels..
Proper Northern seaside town back then. At least Scarborough hasn't changed much.

Not a bad old town. Long past its heyday, but 'it does what it says on the tin' as the saying goes. Shame it attracted lot of 'dosser' types inn the 90s and beyond, attracted by cheap rents, booze and smack.

I was home in the Scotland a couple of months ago for a short stint working in the North Sea and ended up going down to Blackpool for a stag party. My first visit in about 25 years. I enjoyed it but its very run down with a lot of homeless.

Thought we'd have a first family day out in nearly a year.

Rumours were abound that the once shitty coloured seas of Blackpool had turned a crystal clear green because of lockdown.

The rumours appeared to be false.

However from the top of the Big One Roller Coaster it was a different story, they glistened green all the way to the Isle of Man...

Blackpool was relatively quiet for the time of year because of this Covid Indian variant so minimal queuing for the rides. Which meant we rode everything a few times, I may need a chiropractor when the day is over.

    Time for something more mellow..

Funny old place is Blackpool, English are very much in the minority these days.

    Mostly Scottish, Polish and Pakistanis.

Also the amount of obese slappers prized into latex leggings covered in L plates and carrying giant blow up cocks.

Wot no pics, I hear you say

Good to see the Scots are propping up the Blackpool economy. Obese slappers won't help though.

    ^^^^

That last pic brings back some memories.

When I was a kid a few of us used to get the bus into Weston-Super-Mare and walk out under the Grand Pier at low tide. You could make up to 30p in an afternoon by sifting through the mud for the loose change that had fallen through the gaps in the pier decking.
