    On my bike

Going to document my cycling travels around the U.K here.

All pics uploaded to the TD gallery and not urled in from FB so will not disappear.

First trip of 2016 today was the Monsal trail in the Peak District, Derbyshire.

Buxton to Bakewell and back, 20 miles on the old railway line recently restored by the National Trust to a cycle route.

Stunning scenery and a very nice part of the world..

not sure if your feeling any discomfort but looking at the angle on you seat, it seems to be on a forward angle. i used to ride with my seat a little bit forward and after long rides (50 + mlies ) i got major pain in my sit bones. i went and got fitted out at the local bike shop, and they adjusted my seat by 5 mill backwards and the difference was unbelievable. i was then doing regular 100+ rides with my bike club and not feeling the pain that i was having previously. it really is worth the effort to have your riding position sorted out at a good bike shop if your doing long rides, even if you dont feel any pain at the present...

Nice. Did you stop for a tart?

I've got a disused railway line near me that leads all the way down to the south coast. Stress-free riding, totally flat, no cars. Let me know if you're in the area. Public houses are plentiful en route.

I'm probably bias but don't these cycling threads merit a forum of their own? Especially now that planning for the big TD traversal of Siam is underway - by me anyway.

Bazzer's a old hand. Are you up for it Bazzer?

I'm erring now towards following the Mekhong down to the Cambodian corner of Isaan then ambling through the northeast to Bangkok and beyond.

    Woah there, Bazzer.

Some of us need to toil away in an expensive drizzle-stricken shitehole first.

Fook the rain, had six months of it. Fair weather cycling for me.

Cheers for that tip. My road bike was measured up for me at the shop and it's fine.
Not covered many long distances on the mountain Bike although i was feeling the pain below yesterday, shall look into adjusting the MB. In the past it's been mostly used standing up for off roading.

I agree, maybe a sub forum in the sport or health section?

looks like springs one month plus more advanced than here in North yorkshire where the
trees are still mostly bare arsed see through and no wild garlic yet.

Good pic of that horse, though i notice the shot appears to be taken from rather a high vantage point- did he chase you up a tree ?

Not to be outdone by Slap with his gopro.
I gaffa taped a self stick to my handle bars for an old Nokia smart phone and made this short hellish clip, be warned the video contains graphic words

The camera angle doesn't justify the steepness of the hill and those ruddy work men at the bottom didn't help slowing me down.

Never does. Looks like you were on the rivet all the way up though mate - good work. Your heart rate would've been pretty close to maximum. Get a monitor - see if you can take it up to 191, and prepare to go numb.

Railtrack ride looks good. Not many steep hills on those either, and no truck drivers from poland to break your skull with their wing mirrors.
