It's always a welcome sight to see the pink blossoms on the trees this time of year.
The end of the lack of colour in the winter is something to be cheered I feel.
I was bought a Fabric Radius Elite saddle for xmas, which I still haven't fitted!!
Time I pulled the bike out of the shed and racked up the miles.

Loading up on the carbs and heading out for a mountain bike ride along the Cheshire canals..

Looks a bit rough and ready, but hit the spot..

5 minutes into the ride and i wa attacked by some protective hissing geese, managed to take this snap of the b'stards. nearly went arse over tit into the canal.

A few more pics from along the route..

    Spot the goat

A herring stalking some ducklings, closest i've ever been to one of these shy beasts..

Plenty of old mills along the canal..

Bluebells in abundance this year, pink and white ones also..

    Cricket season is upon us..

The trusty old Rockrider with puncture proof tyres..

    Enjoy

Time for some escapism from the madness of the world.

Today's mountain bike madness, nearly died of heat stroke.
Five hours of technically difficult riding around the top of the Edale valley, the epicentre being the Devils Arse.

Early start and no one about, the sun is shining...lets have it!

Starting point is on top of Mam Tor, bloody breezy up there..

Up i trundle with a 500mls of water..

At the top of Mam Tor with the stone path stretching out as far as the eye can see.

Found a less technical grass route slightly lower down, argg ruddy sheep everywhere..

If your not totally focused on the next 2 metres in front and take your eye of the rocks and holes for a nano second then.....

12 foot over the side into a nice soft bramble bush, still picking the splinters out of my arse.

Bike still in one piece, i'll survive but i'm sticking the the stone path for now.
Waters gone and it's getting hotter than the Devils Arse after a Vindaloo and bowl of Som Tam...

    Guess who?

A terrifying white knuckle ride to the valley below in search of sustenance.
Brakes on full skidding down the grassy 40% slope, lumps and bumps everywhere.
I'm not going to meet thy maker today.

Sanctuary from the heat and raging thirst,NOT!! Left my wallet and money in the car.

    Old school village of Castleton..

It teased and taunted me all day but i didn't succumb to it..

Hot as hell and making my way back to the car on the other side of the valley i started to flounder, so took a few more pics on my rest stops that were getting longer and longer.

No hope for cyclists here, ramblers only.

No hope for this poor bleeder if Punty was about, what is it?

Plenty of multi cultural sheep in these parts..

Starting to meltdown now, buttercups anyone?

90% Meltdown, shit i've got to pick the kids up from school in an hour.
Give me that 2lt bottle of water and bunch of bananas in the car.......Ppllleeaassse.

    Oh yes, orgasmic..

    Enjoy.

Another sweltering weekend in the saddle...

Farmers are getting the cattle feed in for the winter..

    Name that car..

Found this beauty parked in the middle of nowhere, look at thee curves, nearly shagged exhaust pipe.

    An English country cottage garden..

Check out the miniature horse box and can you spot the third horses head?

A solitary swan majestically floats in the middle of a lake..

Hot enough for a dip, maybe not with that algae...

    Swarms of ladybirds about..

    A couple more random shots..

    Winter is over !

Double temperature figures at last, so i dusted off the road bike and gave it a spin for an hour.

Time to get the thighs working again, it's been a long winter.

An hour was enough, but long enough to snap these pics...

How many cranes are there in each pic?

A tropical 15.oC today up in the Peak District, this time last week it was blizzard conditions and -15 wind chill factor

30 miles and 4 hours of thigh thumping, sweaty mountain biking today.

What a joy it was, the first major ride of the year, it has been a long winter.

    On with the cracking pictures...

The best part about today was the old vw campervan i acquired for free!

Spotted it on the trail through the leafless trees and went investigating, like you do.

An angry Jack Russel alerted the farmer to my presence and a deal was struck.

I am now the proud owner of a VW Classic!!

Just need to get the fooker home and restored before August Summer holidays

A memorable day, enjoy the pics.

Looks like an enjoyable ride, CCC, but methinks your campervan project is a wee bit too ambitious, na.

Investigated the Peak District today and the whole place is a blazing inferno...

The military has been called in to help battle a huge moorlands fire which has been raging for three days.
The blaze covers 3.7miles (6km) of moorland above Stalybridge and prompted the evacuation of up to 100 homes.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed it had asked for military assistance.
One resident described seeing "ash falling like rain" and another said it "looked like the apocalypse".

Four schools have closed and a GP said he had seen patients with nosebleeds, coughs and eye problems caused by the smoke.
Firefighters are having to haul pumps and hoses for up to two miles in blistering heat to reach parts of the fire.
Prime Minister Theresa May said the government is keeping the situation "under constant review".

Greater Manchester's assistant chief fire officer Dave Keelan said a "request" had gone in for military assistance.
"That's for help to move high-volume pumps and to transport personnel to remote locations," he said.
Pressed on the arrangements, he said the military was likely to use Chinook helicopters to move two water pumps.
A Ministry of Defence spokeswoman confirmed the fire service had approached them "as a priority" and the MoD was "looking into what might be done."
United Utilities has also provided a helicopter to drop water on to hard-to-access areas of the fire.
