But reading your thread this morning inspired ne to buy the wife a new inner tube, fix the daughter's seat, find my bike and inflate all the tyres.



Kids are on Easter hols now, so we've been out with the dog and into town for some alfreaco scran...

Given that there's not so much as a spec of oil, grease, lube or crud on the gear cogs, the white on the tire wall is whiter than the gloss frame paint, I'd wager that bike has been used precisely once.

Taksin Maharat Bridge, on the Chaloem Burapha Chonlathit coast road, Laem Sing, Chanthaburi.
Recent re-asphalt and cycleway painting courtesy of Ms P's civil engineering company; rather eyeball-burning bright.
Don't mind the heat; 34C, realfeel 42C but felt higher than that on the asphalt.

Third ride since Monday 32km, Tuesday 39km, and then an arduous shopping day with daughter.
Yesterday's ride, 54km loop from home, along the coast then inland, keep away from Chan city, mostly rural roads.
Three 7-11s handy for cold drinks. My frozen solid drink bottle was warm within about 40 minutes.


Nearing home, Noen Wong fortress, steady incline from here to Khao Ploy Waen then a nice 3km descent


The bike; settled on another hybrid, Trek Marlin 7.

Had a TM5 in NZ and sold that 3 weeks ago - faultless bike in the time I had it, also had a hybrid Giant ATX Pro and a Specialized Allez triathlon/road bike here, sold the Specialized to a tall Thai rider; wore the Giant out - recorded 38,000km and I tortured it to death, off-road, beach/seawater riding, it was indestructible, until it wasn't.

Probike/Trek had a Songkran sale, ZienBike agents here in Chanthaburi, got a 28% discount - ordered Thursday and arrived/assembled Saturday afternoon - as expected they didn't have an XL frame in stock for a 187cm rider. Good deal, also discounts on accessories, pump (Presta not Schrader), carrier and bag, spare tubes.

My frozen solid drink bottle was warm within about 40 minutes.

I recommend Camelbak insulated water bottles. I do the same as you, freeze the drink in the bottle, and typically with Camelbak, it takes around 45 minutes before there's sufficient liquid melted to actually drink.

Exhilarating few hours in the saddle today with a whopping 21oC temperature.

The scents of Spring are well and truly in the air.


With all this talk of Vulcan Bombers on here recently, I cycled to the birthplace and home of the Vulcan in Woodford, Cheshire.

A scenic pit stop en-route..

I even managed to access what was left of the old runway, ready for take off..

A pre flight view seen by many a pilot of the Lancaster Bomber,Nimrod and Vulcan.


XM603's final resting home..


A bit of history about XM603..

Built in 1963, the Avro Vulcan XM603 was one of 136 Vulcan bombers.

All of the planes, which were made at the Woodford airfield in Stockport, Greater Manchester, were retired after the Falklands War between Argentina and the UK in 1982.

The Avro Heritage Museum said the restoration was its "largest renovation project" since its opening in 2015.

Making its maiden flight for the Royal Air Force in 1952, the Vulcan bombers caused a stir every time they flew due to their unique shape and earth-shaking roar.

In 2015, the last airworthy version toured the UK with a series of flypasts to mark its final year of flight.
