If any of you remember SEA Traveler he got into biking heavy about 7 years ago. Pretty much daily rides adding up to over 500 kilometers a week. He has also lost about 30 kilos. Here was his ride of a few days ago.

He more or less got me into daily exercise when I saw the change in him.
I remember SEA Traveler was a bit chubby. And I must admit (as I have already) that Cujo, despite being a curmudgeon, achieved a very impressive...in fact rather astonishing.... body transformation. I myself started cycling again about 3 months ago, after 5 years off. There are hills where I live which are a great challenge, and my bike has front and rear suspension.
Great pictures, Chitty! Impressive hills. I'm going out of town soon on a very long bike ride, ill try grab some snaps. Ciao

^Who's bike? So cute!
I love the cow's crossing the road pic.. :)
Nothing like country life.
Weathers been crap for a while now so gave the bike a service .
Added mudguards for the wet weather and some new 700x28mm Schwalbe tyres for better grip.
My last set of tyres only lasted 4 months or approximately 1500 miles.
All oiled and ready to go...

Why the blindfolds on the horses... is that a northern thing?
Does it not take some of the fun out of it?
I've no idea why they were blinkered up, thought someone on here might know.
Yesterday's 4 hour sweat in the saddle took me to somewhere new, a bit of history for you...
Quarry Bank is one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites, showing how a complete industrial community lived. Here you can discover the story of mill workers, mill owners and how the Industrial Revolution changed our world forever.
On your visit, you can explore the domestic life of the mill-owning Greg family in their home, Quarry Bank House. Or wander through the stunning picturesque gardens that rise up the banks of the river valley for stunning views and spectacular changes through the seasons. In the restored glasshouse and kitchen garden, you can see the array of exotic fruits and vegetables that were grown for the wealthy Gregs' table.
For an alternative view of life in the Industrial Revolution, take a guided tour of the Apprentice House to step into the lives of the pauper children who worked 10 hours a day in the mill. Or stroll to Styal village to see how many of the other workers lived. In the village hub, a permanent exhibition explores the living conditions of the workers compared to life in the centre of Manchester. A tour of a two-up-two-down worker's cottage offers an insight into more than 150 years of history and invites you to compare your life to those of the workers.

When i first started cycling, one hour was enough.
Now after one hour i feel as though i'm just getting warmed up. About 3/4 hours is the norm now although i will push it with an occasional 5/6 hour ride.
Good stuff, Chits.
What sort of average speed do you, umm, average?
Just out of sheer curiosity.
I use a mountain bike and on flat roads seem to average between 25-30 kph nowadays, was in Decathlon today and looked at a damn nice road bike, must have weighed about 1500 grams. Which was probably the cost of each wheel in USD.
Cheers
Probably about the same as you, aprox 20mph. Then again you're younger and fitter than i.
Outstanding shop for cycling gear, everything i use is from Decathlon.Although last time i visited the place absolutely everything was sold out due to a nation getting into cycling because of C19.
1.5kg !!
The lowest weight i've seen is just under 5kg, i know a few cyclists who have 7kg bikes.
Mine is 11.6kg
After a week of raining, its was great to get back in the saddle for a few hours.
