I'd like to be in that lighthouse with a few Dark Beer Lao's when the biggest storm of the century came through.

Be friggin awesome that. There is a picture around showing a lighthouse somewhere with the waves crashing right over it.

    Its a killer photo.

Thanks for sharing the pics NR.

I lived just outside Falmouth for a couple of years. The lazy summers were great but I preferred the winters in Cornwall. Less tourists and the weather made the whole place seem far more far more wild and dramatic.

Memories of arriving back at home, getting the fire going, rain lashing against the firmly shut windows, decent stew warming on the range...

    It'd be great, I reckon!
With the storms hitting that part of the UK at the mo, I reiterate what I said!

Famous photo (from 1989) - the light-house-keeper was waiting for a rescue helicopter. He mistook the photographer's (Jean Guichard) helicopter for the rescue and stepped outside at the wrong moment.

Looks like he would have been killed for sure but he got back in and closed the door with a split second to spare when he realised the wave was breaking.

Both north and south coasts are hazardous these last few days. Hail storms, winds and huge waves at the moment. Weather warnings are in place by the met office.

    Apart from that, all fine.
