    Wildlife forum..?

I've just discovered that there is actually wildlife in Thailand, I thought it had all been eaten and replaced with plastic bags. I made this amazing discovery through TeakDoor of all places, yes TeakDoor has enlightened me.. amazing I know.

Seriously though I never realised there was a subforum for Thai nature untril it was pointed out via links in another thread, it is a sub, sub, forum inside farming and gardening, and living in Thailand and legal affairs.
Not the sort of forum you would find as a casual browser or indeed a committed mudslinger like myself.

The quality of the wildlife threads and nature being an obvious attraction in Thailand leads me to think the threads there should be given a higher profile so that others may see them and in turn the kudos of Teakdoor can be taken up another notch.

Also I think that Nature reserves and wildlife would be a better rather than a 'Nature Reserve forum' and a 'zoo and animals forum' as I think they are two distinctly oppossite sides of the same coin.. if I wanted to browse native animals I wouldn't want to have to go into a zoo sub-forum, So I think a 'Nature reserve and Wildlife forum' and a 'Zoo and (other attractions (animal charity perhaps)) forum' would be a tidier solution... and bring them to the fore.. I mean who cares about gardening or legal issues.. pffft.

    What say you all?

DD has mentioned some upcoming changes to the forum. Given membership growth and views, seems a good time to reorganize the forum home page.

Wasn't here at the beginning of TD but appears the site was structured with a few top forums and others were added within as they came along.

"Living and Legal Affairs in Thailand" does have an odd collection of subs.

I like fish, they don't eat much and the nipper don't realise when they've died and I've replaced them

I like the idea. with that said and fully understanding what is involved maybe a reorg is due????

Way tooooo many forums on the Home page me thinks. Too much scrolling involved.

Maybe consolidate some and add some specifics like a wild life.

An example of consolidation would be to add the three existing forums into a single title; FOOD

Use enough major headings to get them pretty much on screen without scrolling, folks tend to lose interest if viewing casually and then need to move. Sad but a fact.

Anytime you can reduce the amount of initial scrolling I think you win.

Eventually there will be 2 forum main pages, 1 Thailand only, then the other, small feed from each to the other and a button to switch between the 2.

Sounds good. Also sounds like this is not the first time you've thought about it.

Nope, it isn't, also eventually we will be using the right hand side of the forum page so as it is it would increase the scrolling way too much.

Considering it's about a zoo and features wildlife that is largely not native to Thailand, I'd say that particular thread goes in the 'zoo subforum'

I like the idea of the native wildlife subforum, too.
