Thread: TD Images - You rock - not

Some pictures posted on this forum (that were perhaps hosted elsewhere) have been replaced in threads by the TD You Rock gif emoticon image.



See this picture thread by Luigi that has now been ruined.

As it is a TD image that is replacing the previous images, it must be the TD software that is doing it, perhaps due to a setting change by TD admin or a mod.

Can anyone explain the need for it?

I can't speak for anything else (any other threads/posts), but that thread and others of mine were ruined long long ago by image.org, or some such hoster that I previously used.

Around 18 months ago (rough estimate) all their images turned up blank all over the net. Not long after I posted that one thread. It's nothing to do with anything 'current' TD.


For reasons such as that, and a few others, I believe that nowadays images posted on TD are automatically changed to being hosted on TD after around a minute or so.


And blank images, such as the ones on that thread you linked to, get this 'You Rock' image thing.

Yes, I've noticed that but last evening I posted an image that was changed to a You Rock image not long after. (I had it hosted on imgur.com). It appears it wasn't automatically imported for some reason. When I noticed it was a You Rock image, I faffed about so it is now hosted on TD and it is OK.

As far as I know the image I posted last evening didn't go blank but it may have and I didn't notice that. I have checked my Coffee Art thread and all my pictures (originally hosted on imgur.com) are OK. Some of the images you posted there are now You Rock images.

Anyway, thanks for your reply. I'll keep an eye on other images I post to see what happens to them.

This image I found few days ago in my post about Turkey, placed there instead of a picture of McCain originally given there few hours before. So I assume that somebody from mod did not find it "politically correct", hence replaced it.

Who else could it do?

The newspaper/newssource. Not uncommon that a link you expected to take you to X actually takes you to Y, the same applies to pictures.

^Interestingly, such "disappearance" happens here only when the picture shows something "politically incorrect" (as I mentioned) - what obviously the X or Y would not classify so...

BTW, has it ever happened at any of the loads of Trump's pictures/links here? (or some of his "friends"?)

The newspaper/newssource can replace a hotlinked image with another one but it is higly unlikely they would replace it with a TD image. And the chances of more than one newspaper/newssource choosing the exact same TD image is even less than that me winning the EuroMillions lottery 50 times in a year - allegedly.

I noticed that on my television thread earlier and thought I might have put it there. Although I've never used that gay emoji.
