    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations

Ok my American friends. A few days over here (managed to avoid any rogue army helicopters - was that too soon?) and now trying to plan my culinary journey. Whats not to be missed?

First up, some good American US beef. Won’t even need to Uber, half these places are in walking distance.

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2235-jpg

bbq - of course! Plenty in walking distance.

philly cheesesteak (I didn’t realise they had good cheesesteaks here, usually I just have one at Geno’s but no time to go north this trip). Google maps looks decent.

So have I missed anything? Any particular not-to-be missed places?

And being as I have very few seafood options available in central Africa my first stop was a sushi bar.

Well, since I don’t have to TEFL for the British council for 12 hours today for the free sandwiches, I reckon it might be time for a breakfast beer. And the US has so many good IPAs around.

    So, first up Texas BBQ.

Found this place Hill Country Barbecue Market | Texas Barbecue in New York

write up sounds fair, so brave the cold and went for a walk.

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2262-jpeg

country music, football on the tv, pretty bar maids. What more can one ask for?

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2260-jpeg

well, an IPA, of course! But which one to choose… so the lass gave me a couple of tasters, and none of this £1.99 each that Chitty posted about in London. These were on the house. Possibly because I am so charming and handsome. Well, that’s one theory!

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2258-jpeg

    The local IPA wins out.

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2257-jpeg

Now to order some good ole Texas Que.

brisket and pork belly, with campfire beans, bacon mash, cornbread with bourbon butter.

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2259-jpeg

Well, Teakdoor, it was fuckin good. But, I have to confess it was well large, it doesn’t look that large but I’m not a big fella and only managed about half. Besides, I needed room for half a dozen pints.

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2261-jpeg

The tramp on the way home will be happy…

    The photograph was purely coincidental.

Dinner last night was started with a few Ole Fashioneds. Smoke them up first.

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2276-jpeg

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2277-jpeg

Then a steak. Cooked rare, and just done perfectly. No photo proof you’ll just have to take my word for it. Or not.

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2278-jpeg

And to finish the evening we spent it in a Cigar lounge that was packed considering it was a Sunday evening.

    order a double Talisker.

    Washington D.C.; Reccomendations-img_2279-jpeg

    But the bill. Oh my.

$56 before tax and tip. I could have bought the whole bottle for that price! Not recommended for telfers, chancers would be ok cos they usually get other people to pay or run out on the bill as soon as it’s ordered. So chancers can.

Funnily enough, that's what your bird said when I was giving her the hal grand slam.

    * She wasn't at the doctors that night, but she did get some treatment.

Clearly you have a more intelligent retort than that feeble teenage attempt?

There are times when teenage humour works, snubs.

    And you got one then.

Take what on the chin? A weak ass response from you? That sad shit never got close to my chin, bitch. I trigged you in round one with the Denny's comment, you barely escaped the ten count and got up wobbly kneed just like Tyson Fury.
