I was basing my reply of my many years of visiting the Philippines cybil..the first time when Marcos was in power and I was about 18 or 19 a good looking kunt. I couldn't believe my luck that I had found a country where beer was cheaper than water and the women were stunning. The downside was plenty of Brownouts. Oh well you can't have everything. Took a while but things gradually improved. It's still my favourite country in the world. Heck. I will drink a hot red horse or 3 if I have to. Can't take electricity and cold beer for granted cybil. I know you don't understand. You've had your hand held by your school employers who needed a white guy to teach Engrish innitt very nice

Regardless of cash cost how many liters would you need to run AC for a day.
many years ago there were cuts occasionally here , v rare now usually building work by council in Office hours but no public warning.

Was thinking of solar but payback longer than my life expectancy but a small diesel generator might be good back up.

Would you or other suggest the capacity for 3 people 2 fridges 2 Air con units 3 showers 3 tvs etc, Lighting over 230sq metres and few usaulkitchen appliances
Air Fryer Crock Pot Oven Stove, Microwave kettle espresso thingy and of course laptops.

Can it be safely located 30m from house in an outbuilding /shed to limit sound?
We can Bury the wire in the gardens?

This one is 8kv, can run lights, 3 ACs, the fridge, the wifi, couple of TVs & the kettle or rice maker if needed. It cannot run the two water geysers and heaters or washing machine at the same time as the ACs. So turn on some and have the others turned off as needed. It goes through about 20
litres of diesel in about an 8 hour stretch.

Markets are a thing here. Last weekend we spent some time shopping, eating, and drinking. Live music, blue skies. A very nice was to spend a few hours.










But it was hot. So we found the food court, and enjoyed some buckets of beer with the free glasses.

Why does it finish so early?

Day market. They have a few night markets also, but mostly driving home at night is not advised. Roads are poorly light, or not at all, full of crazy pot holes, Africans tend to walk on the roads in dark clothing at night and there’s plenty of drunk drivers around.

A few more mainly food markets this coming weekend. Well, Thursday through Sunday. We’ll attend at least one to two.

So today’s life in SA could literally be expat life pretty much anywhere. Cricket, beer, and pizza. Not exciting or exotic but a damn good day. The time zones mean that the Adelaide day night test starts at 6:00am and finishes around 2:00pm. So a day in front of the tv it was. And a pretty darn good day it was too, smashing the Indians. The good thing about cable in SA is that they have approx 10 channels solely dedicated to sport, so you nearly always get to watch whichever game/code/event live.



After the cricket a quick Power Nap and then out for pizza dinner. The Italian ambassador told me that this is the best pizza place in town, and they were pretty good. And a few G&Ts for hydration porpoises.

There's a national election coming up next year, so some political wrangling going on now. Some schools are closed today, just in case there's demonstrations or unrest while the supreme court makes a judgemnet on the eligiblity of a former president to stand a third time in the elections.



Govt restates calls for calm ahead of constitutional court’s ruling on ex-president Lungu’s case

The Zambian government has called for calm as the Constitutional Court prepares to deliver its judgment on the eligibility of former President Edgar Lungu.

The ruling is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

In a media briefing held at the Ministry on Monday, Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana, urged citizens to follow the judgment from their homes or workplaces, emphasizing that crowding the court premises was unnecessary.

He pointed out that both public and private media had been allowed to broadcast the judgment live.

“Citizens are also warned against commenting on cases before the courts of law, adding that those found wanting should not ride on tribal or regional lines,” Kawana warned.

Kawana commended the judiciary for allowing the media to broadcast the proceedings of Lungu’s eligibility case, announcing that more cases would be televised in the future.

In a related development, Kawana warned that political involvement does not exempt individuals from facing legal consequences.
