In Zimbabwe they call it sadza,made from white Maize,good stuff,have it with Mopane Worms
or dried meat and Gravy when you are out in the bush.
In town mixed with Tomato resish,peanut sauce -spinach etc.

Having now been in Thailand and enjoy my wife's cooking I go to other places and find most of the foods a bit bland in taste.

The pics above from DW do appear bland. Not that it is bad, just not something one would want to eat every day.

Same here and my wife could not believe how dull Australians ate , first thing was to find Asian grocer and top up the "emergency spices" she travels with.

I am sure Willy will find some sauce to gee it up.

Indeed so, we are fortunate there is a small China town market and shops here (as for most cities around the world).







There's also a hawker style food centre.

Despite me cooking corned beef in the slow cooker today that's just me being a lazy koontie. It's a crowd pleaser though. Mashed spuds. Cheesy sauce, peas for the young bloke and voila only 7 hours in the slow cooker. Mrs bld won't eat it but she's damn fussy and just knocks up the Lao scran for herself. Actually it's a bit of a balancing act. I would prefer to leave all the catering to her because we both work.but coz im.a great bloke I can be catering Officer if she's gonna be late. the shark biscuits enjoy a bit of variety anyway. So, happy days

Huge. Chinese money built the new airport, Chinese money built and rebuilt roads and flyovers to improve traffic. Chinese construction companies (mostly considered cheap & poorly built), there is a Chinese International School, restaurants etc. Many Africans go to China for university and some hospitals have exchange programmes with Chinese hospitals.

Cape Town is dominated by Table Mountain which is made up of quartzitic sandstone, which is resistant to weathering is actually the syncline of a mountain range, meaning it’s the bottom of the folded valley, most of which has eroded away. The formation dominates most of the city and on a sunny day is stunning.

My white friends from Witwaterrand Uni left SA after white Boer wife assaulted, parents sold a large farm to live in relative poverty in small house in UK having been unable to sell at market value intiminidated by locals. Newcastle upon Tyne has lovely people but the beaches and wines not of SA standard let alone the heating bill.

Not sure where you are or tv options saw a 1 hour documnetary on France 24 about Chinese farmers in Zambia.It look a beautiful land but roads worse than here in rual Siam

It’s safe during the day, plenty of police and security out and about but you’re not recommended to wander in the evening, regardless of your skin colour. Criminals don’t discriminate.

Zambia is and was a fvcking shit hole 30 years ago and it's not changed much since, even with the influx of Chinese investment.
You wouldn't walk the streets there in the day as a whitey, it's akin to a red rag to a bull.

Even the old locals long for the old colonial days before independence and chaos.

I think you are being optimistic about the anti-racial-profiling moral principles of the average crim Willy

I don't know about SA in particular, but 'survival of the fittest criminals' game theory would suggest that criminals would instinctively discriminate between targets and aim for the marks likely to be carrying the most money based on visual appearance, which would probably include skin colour as a criterion.

Having said that a colleague here got mugged yesterday, walking 10 minutes to walk. He was carrying a backpack with laptop and passport. Middle of the highway as he was crossing the road, cars either side of him and a couple of guys with a large knife took his bag.
