    Where was your first travel?

My first travel was when I was 18 . For some reason I decided to go to India on the way to Scotland for my brothers wedding 6 months later. I was cashed up because I had been working seismic in the west aussie deserts. It was an eye opener for me I smoked a lot of hashish back then so had a pretty laid back lifestyle. Saw a lot of India. It's a huge place I've got no desire to ever re visit India whatsoever
But one thing the Indian experience taught me is keep an open mind and if you see a cobra and and an Indian on the footpath at the same time ..kill the Indian first. Just joking but seriously India is not a place to go to relax. The hashish helps though

    Like most Brits: Spain. Calella.

I got pneumonia and measles at the same time and was hallucinating and seeing people on the ceiling of the hotel room after being given the wrong medication by the local Spanish quack. I spent a week in hospital upon my return home.

I did get to see the Camp Nou though before the shit hit the fan, so I was able to boast about that as a 7 year old kid when I was fully recovered.

    Yeah I've heard that also.

    Bali is your Aussies Magaluf.

My first travel experience was memorable for getting a kids wooden swing to the head.
My parents spent a small fortune on hospital bills as they didnt have insurance.

We chucked all the plastic tables and chairs in the swimming pool for fun aged 7, somethings never change.

18 years old and I was working as a draftsman for a naval architect. I got sent on a ship survey to Pearl Harbor for three weeks. Its what got me into traveling. While not abroad, per se, it was quite different than Jax, Fl. When I was 20, I got sent to Yokosuka, Japan to visit the USS Midway, the POS.

First travel for me (as an unaccompanied adult paying my own way) was as an 18 year old on a 21 night Sth Pacific cruise on the Fairstar island hopping around places like Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, New Caledonia, and so on. Can't remember much about it due to the sheer amount of booze and drugs consumed, but am still in contact to this day with some people met on that trip. Needed a few days to level out and rejoin normal society after disembarking in Sydney, that was one hell of a party

Went to Port Moresby in about 1967 sitting in the back of a cargo DC3 with no seats. It was a charter flight transporting Halliburton logging tools so we could stop for beer whenever the Esky emptied. Took about 3 days if I remember correctly.

Not sure if that counts as overseas as Australia was still running the place.

Dubrovnik, where I learnt to swim. Closely followed by Gambia and Senegal which I don't have much memory of. Too young to appreciate it I guess.

First solo trip as an adult was to Hong Kong right after SARS which meant we got a bargain for the hotel.

As a kid England France/Spain Basque Country as an adult Holland Germany Austria then overland to Bhutan got the bug , been in a 40-50 nations lost count as so ancient some don't exist like Yugoslavia and new ones I've visited like Singapore , Slovakia that didn't exist when I was born. I am glad I travelled when visas were simpler fewer hurdles tho of course no net, cell or camera to insure/lose or look at, so spoke to travel partners and locals .

    30 yrs old.

Flew to Manilla for my employer to do an armour vehicle hand over to the Aus embassy.

Then the next 5 yrs (before my employer moved me to Thailand) I filled a 64 page passport flying around the world doing vehicle hand overs to Aus Embassies.

I purchased my first injection moulding machine when I was 28 and part of the deal was a trip to Hong Kong to see the machine factory.

That is the time I fell in love with Asia.

19, went to New Zealand with a friend. His older brother went there the year before and it sounded like a good time. It was cool but I wish i went to asia instead. The hostel scene in the 2000's was great. Bought a car for $1000 and went to both Islands.

This became our beer for the trip. Flame beer. "Extreme brewed, Crash cooled". This was peak drinking for me. My game went down from here. We just drank bottles and bottles and didnt flinch.

Then I went to Europe the next year. Then Thailand in 2006.

    A short version.

Ocho Rios, Jamacia at 17. Nice trip. Water was beautiful. People were great.

    First smuggling experience

Met two nice females. One my age that was visiting the island with her mother and the other was an older woman (travel agent from New York in her early 30’s) who paid my way for the last half of the trip.

Went back a few years later with a girlfriend and got some great pictures that my first and last wife found and burned. The photos were a bit racy,......to say the least.
