    Bringing Alcohol into Thailand

This should be a very short thread .
From my google search I see that you are allowed only one litter each.
    It's me and the wife
I have two bottles of Wine and a bottle of ouzo each 750 ml which will bring out total to 2.25 litters and I am wondering how strict they are being a little over.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

Not strict, put it in bubble wrap in your checked luggage.

The Thai customs department might be more concerned about you reselling a product. Remove the bottles from their original package/box and just wrap the bottles well as aging one suggested. Baggage handlers can be rough as most travelers can attest to.

You have nothing to declare! But if you are stopped, have your wife explain that the bottles are for your personal use.

Have your Thai wife walk between you and the customs officials when leaving the baggage area.

Remember, mood is everything. Depending on their mood and your spouse’s ability to smooth talk them, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

I think you should drop stumpy a message. He brings booze back from the states every time he goes.

True that but let's not ignore the mood of the Customs official.

His answer will be the same as ao's.

Wrap carefully, put in hold baggage.

    Thank you all !!!
Now I feel a little better about bringing the extra booze to Thailand
I developed a taste for Ouzo that when mixed with water (1part ouzo 2parts water) is actually very good, especially when had with appetizers.
Wrapping with bubble wrap is a good idea.
It was very nice until last week but now it is getting very windy ., and getting a bit boring . I am happy to get back home , and a bit of Ouzo and Greek wine should make it even happier

^I brought in 2 suitcases filled halfway (mine and hers) with a product (not in its original packaging) much worse than alcohol. Customs told me I could not bring it in the country and they wanted it removed from the suitcases.

Whatshername stepped in. By the time she was finished with them, they were all smiles. But did tell me not to try it again.

Every visit here since then, I still bring the product in. Just not as much.

up2u reggie, I have brought back liquor every time I have been to the states, perhaps 25 times in 35 years. Brought back a sewing machine and a lot of Black and Decker tools as well. In September my daughter and her boyfriend brought over 3 bottles of wine, a lot of good beer for me, and two bottles of Patron tequila.

Even if he is stopped he is .25 liters over the limit between 2 people.

About 10 years ago I was stopped with 4 bottles of wine. Packed in the hold luggage. I agreed to give the guy one bottle and was let off.
Kinda annoying as it was expensive wine.

So we got back in Thailand last Monday, got our suitcases and walked out without anyone even giving us a second look.
I wish I had brought more booze with me.

The last two times I flew into Swampy on international flights (abet a couple of years ago) there was no customs at the airport. Picked up the luggage and walked straight out onto the concourse.

I always make a point of bringing in at least two bottles of 1 litre Scotch malt every time I enter BKK. If I've been onshore beforehand then I'll also pack some more bottles in my check-in... usually cider and wine.

I've heard there is a 30,000 Baht fine of you're caught, but I've rarely even been searched.

You have to always remember that Thailand is just a 'joke' country, so don't take things too seriously.

There was a time a few years ago when, while walking from plane to immigration, guys would come up to you and try to get you to buy more duty free... an obvious scam because they would just call through to immigration to nail you with extra , if you bought it.

I often buy a tube of Cadbury's Celebrations at duty free... not only does the family like them but the customs monkeys look in the bag, see that the 'bottle shaped' objects are just chocolates, and wave you on. The whiskey is lying flat in the bag.

    Remember, these guys aren't clever.
